I've been getting more and more into using QR codes. There's certainly a "sex appeal" that gets attention both internally and externally. From what I've seen, it's a great way to drive very focused action. We've started including them in our print advertising. Scanning the code will lead the viewer to a custom page that has a video about the particular attraction/institution discussed in the add. The key is to follow up, so the page is littered with opportunities to sign-up for our mailing list (using Facebook connect), like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter.
