SnowBALLS | Lee Minho

Pulling on the strings of your hoodie’s hood, you threw on your little brother’s slides and made your way out the door to plug in the Christmas lights. A part of you didn’t understand why your parents didn’t just buy a timer so no one was forced to go out in the cold ass weather just to turn the lights on but at the same time, you loved seeing the lights appear before your eyes.

Your breath was visible when you let out a huge huff, walking down the stairs of your porch and down to the front of your garage. It hadn’t occurred to you that someone else was outside until you felt the the back of your ankle burn from the cold.

“Haha, gotcha!”

You dropped the plug and spun around to face your neighbour who had his hands deep in his jacket pockets. He had a playful smile on his face which you couldn’t help but return with an annoyed frown.

“Do you just stand and wait out here for me to come out, Minho?” You turned back to the fallen plug and tugged your hood down to see better. When the socket was in sight, you pushed it firmly into the socket. The back of your leg was soaking at the ball of snow Minho had thrown your way and now you wanted to get him back.

“No, actually, I was just getting home,” he replied, gesturing to his duffel bag that was slung over his shoulder. You watched as Minho bent down and began to gather snow, glancing up at you as he patted the bunch together.

“Minho, I swear, if you throw that at me I’m throwing one back,” you threatened, “I’m not wearing the right clothes, you are. This isn’t fair.”

Minho didn’t seem to mind you. He took his time forcing the ball of snow into a not-so-perfect sphere while a smirk fluttered onto his lips. You slowly backed up, closer to the bottom of your porch stairs, but when Minho noticed you trying to retreat, his arm couldn’t help but chuck the snow right at your direction.

At contact, the ball crumbled, falling down your hoodie and into your shirt. You cringed at the cold feeling dripping slowly down your skin, shivering every time the water had reached untouched skin.

“Lee Minho, I swear,” you grumbled at the boy. This time it was your turn to muster up a ball of snow and throw it. Your aim wasn’t bad, but Minho’s reflexes were seemingly superhuman and he dodged the multiple balls you threw his way.

“Nice try,” he chuckled. As earlier he crouched down and started making his own snowball, “But you can’t beat me.” Jumping back up, he flung the ball below your waist, hitting your right thigh easily. A groan left your mouth. You saw it coming but you were literally way too slow to dodge it. “Try again,” he smirked.

With a snowball in hand, you believed that distance was what gave Minho the advantage of dodging the balls. If you got closer, maybe he wouldn’t be able to do so and you could actually hit him for once.

“Hey, you’re entering my boundaries that’s breaking that rules!” he gasped. You couldn’t help but laugh at how cute he sounded.

“There’s no rules,” you say. With the majority of your strength, you swing your arm and threw the snowball at Minho’s legs… which you had estimated too high. The ball exploded into bits as it hit his groin and you could see his face change from a taunting smile into defeated shock. He gasped and fell to his knees, groaning out loud. You weren’t sure if he was joking or not, so all you did was stand ankle deep in the snow in slides that weren’t even yours.

“Ouch, ouch, ouch,” Minho was now laying on the cold concrete. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a few moments to breathe.

You made your way over to his side and looked down at him, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” you apologized.

“It’s alright, Y/N,” He opened his eyes and looked up at you, “Just help me up, please.” Minho’s same cocky expression had returned.

“You can get up on your own, dumbass,” you laughed, tempted to kick snow into his face.

“I really can’t. Can’t you see how fat this jacket is?” Minho’s toque was riding down his forehead, eyes merely peeking underneath the bottom. The sides of his cheeks were being squished by the sides of his jacket hood. At this point you were convinced that Minho was just a large child.

“Fine,” you offered a hand, which he immediately took. When he was up and standing, he stumbled forward towards you, your face nearly buried in his chest.

“You beat me,” he pouted. “And?”

“You need to make up for that.” He pushed his toque back up, giving you a better sight of his eyes.His skin reflected the changing colours of the Christmas lights of your house and you could see that same smile as when he first thrown the ball start to creep up on his face.

“How?”

“Hot chocolate and a movie, inside?”

Minho, oh ,Minho. He had talked his way out of prison since he was experienced with that. He had told the police that he only wanted to visit her at the hospital and that a guard would be waiting outside the door of the hospital room. He was brought to your room as the guard placed himself on a nearby bench. He opened your door and was greeted with Changbin's lips on mine. He was furious. "Hey! I'm your boyfriend!"

Changbin turned around in shock when he heard Minho’s voice. His instincts were right. He should have known. “What are you doing with MY girlfriend?” Minho asked, walking towards Changbin. His voice had an angry undertone. “I- I didn’t mean to do it.” he asked his voice shaking in fear. “And that’s something I should believe you?” Minho asked getting closer and closer. His facial expression was like the one of a psychopath.

Changbin was fiddling with his hand behind his back. It looked like he tried to tell you something. It looked like he was trying to push some button. Then it clicked in your head. You tried to grab your emergency button without Minho noticing.

You succeeded and soon after the door went open. Meanwhile, Minho had alread grabbed Changbin at his collar when the Nurse entered. “Can I-- OMG Doctor! Security! Someone help!” she screamed. The security guard came in and grabbed Minho’s arms. Everything went so fast you couldn’t realise what happened.

The security guard led away Minho. “A- Are you okay?” the nurse asked Changbin. “Yeah I guess so.” Changbin answered, looking at you. You sat there still in awe that Changbin had kissed you. You blushed when you noticed he looked at you. “Uhm... I-” You couldn’t say anything. Changbin smiled. “I guess we won’t see Minho for a long time.” he said and smiled.
