Working on Christopher Columbus Blvd by Henry Dell (Elchlok) Via Flickr: Conrail Shared Assets local SP20 has finished its work on the median of South Christopher Columbus Blvd and is seen heading back to the yard on the Philadelphia Belt Line. This day the crew worked both spurs of Penn Warehousing and Distribution. The waterfront unfortunately does not see regular service anymore, if any, with the spur not having seen a train in a few months. The only regular customers left are Penn W&D and the Philadelphia Forest Products Center just North of Penn, as well as Ashland Chemicals at the very beginning of the line and a boxcar transload that occasionally sees cars right at the North end of the yard. S&S Foods may also still see service once in a blue moon. Oddly enough, the waterfront spur reaches piers 78 and 80, which are also part of the Forest Products Center. For some reason they seem not to be serviced at this time, but I suppose there is potential if more customers ship through the center. Piers 38 and 40 are also part of the center and saw a brief moment of service five or six years ago. It would be great to see the Forest Products Center receiving more business as it would surely demand rail service for the piers again.
Christmas Cards and a Caboose by Greg Brown Via Flickr: On a clear December morning in 1992, Southern Pacific's Corvallis Local bisects Independence, Oregon. In two months, this trackage would be leased to the new Willamette & Pacific shortline.
Showdown by Brian Hechel Via Flickr: NS 9610 is charging down the street straight towards a line of photographers before curving off to its left missing everyone by a wide margin.
Crossing Paths by Matt Csenge Via Flickr: Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Flexity Outlook streetcars 4570 and 4504 (Bombardier, 2009-present) are seen at Spadina Ave / Queen St while operating Route 501 and Route 510 services that cross paths here.
