Human Tableau Project This image is part of a series that I started many years ago to raise awareness about human trafficking and the sex slave trade. I called the series the Human Tableau Project. This image in particular represents the victims of human trafficking. The barcode and universal money symbols aren't just symbolic of humans being sold as a commodity in today's modern world, but they also represent the literal barcodes that are often tattooed on victims to both sell them and devalue them as a human being. Human trafficking is an estimated 32 billion dollar business, and there exist approximately 20 million slaves still in existence today. About 300,000 people are trafficked domestically in the United States each year, and victims are targeted from ALL social and economic backgrounds. The sex slave trade is particularly despicable (as this image in the series is meant to represent), and the most popular selling age is for girls between the ages of 12 and 14, and a victim may be forced to perform sex an average 20-48 times a day. There are many organizations formed to fight against human trafficking, such as the Polaris Project, C.A.S.T. LA, and Hands of Hope, A21, Love146, Don't Sell Bodies .org. But what can you and I do to stop this? Lots of things, actually! I have made a list on my website and an extensive blog list of things we can all do everyday to help the fight. Are we really free if there are 20 million slaves in the world? This image is part of the Human Tableau Project, a static street performance tableau I created with the help of several other talented creatives to symbolically show the evils of human trafficking in our world today. This image in particular shows the mockery and the mourning of the Emancipation Proclimation, a United States legal document spearheaded by President Abraham Lincoln to abolish slavery in the states over 200 years ago. In the United States alone TODAY, 800,000 people are trafficked into the US annually, and 300,000 are trafficked domestically within our own borders. The Emanicaption Proclimation stood for freedom. Happened to be in Nima Police Station, in front of a residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, NPO leader. #ghanaelections #ghanadecides Demonstration march occurred around 2pm on Thu 8th Dec 2016, during the vote-counting. I just recovered from malaria and visited a street painter's studio to have an interview with one of the apprentices. In the morning it was calmer than expected so people came to work in small shops of this area. Then later, in the afternoon, supporters started gathering. #demo #demonstration #march #demonstrator #streetdemonstration #election #nima #nimapolicestation #presidentialelection #NanaAkufoAddo 2016年12月8日、ガーナ大統領選挙投票日翌日の開票日。マラリア復活で訪れたのが、ニマ警察所にある看板絵工房。実は最大野党NPPの代表ナナ・アクフォ・アドの邸宅正門前。出口調査から与党NDCを抑え、開票日午後もリードを続ける状況で、支持者のデモが２時頃発生。偶然立ち会わす。けどこのT字路は選挙前の11月からよく選挙カーが信号無視でバンバン走って非日常な雰囲気でした。看板屋にももちろんNPPのTシャツが何千枚とオーダーが入って、看板絵師のマスターも選挙日と開票日の二日間でナナの肖像画を描き上げ店先に飾る。 (at Nima)
