Over the years I have been told many times who I should be. . Oh you’re so calming you should be a yoga teacher. You’ve got so much knowledge you should be a coach. You owe it to the world to be showing people the things you know. . And I would smile and agree in some form never fully committing. . And I’ve often been trying to figure out if it was my ego holding me back or whether it really just wasn’t a full body fuck yes to do those things at those times. . In Nepal I had such a clear vision of the things that I, actually ME, want to do. . Not what others have told me I SHOULD do, but what lights me up and makes me feel good. My bliss so to speak. . It still scares the fuck out of me to put myself out there and yet I also feel calm and excited. . I guess I’m finally on my own track, not the one everyone else has been telling me I should be on. . Family fun day today. Or that’s what it was meant to be. This picture was taken before the ‘fun’ began 😂 . Today my flight and freeze mode wanted to play more than I’ve experienced in a long time. . My Adrenalin was in high mode as we snaked our way through the tree tops challenge course. I said at one point this must be what it’s like to be a deer being chased by lions. . Yes you read that right, the girl who can jump out of planes and swim with sharks without a fear was terrified of climbing up in the trees on a supported course. . It challenged everything I had in me. I thought I was going to vomit and cry at one point and I didn’t think my arms had anything left to continue the course. That was on our 3rd course. . When the guy behind me decided to jump on the part I was on too and made it shake more I thought I was a goner. I felt everything within me want to quit. . But the best part about that place is I had no where to go but to continue. And so I did. . And I made it. . And it’s like that with life every day right. You just have to take it one step at a time. Place one foot in front of the other, feel and find your balance and take the next step until you get to the next point to unclip and move on. . I’m not sure why those kind of things terrify me so much they just do. Yet I still conquered it. I knew it would be a challenge for me and I took it on and so for that I’m proud of myself. Watching the little kids fly through without a care had me feeling a little envy haha . One step at a time. That’s all we need to do. Sometimes we don’t even realize the power that is inside us until all of a sudden, when it is needed, we act with focus and an unwavering commitment. We literally don’t know we have it in us until the time comes and we have an attitude that somehow rose up from within. . This is why I have loved being challenged to do things out of the box recently. It’s like finding my edges and deciding I don’t want it to be an edge anymore, so I change the game and push my edge. . Many coaches have told me to lean into my edges, and I’ve listened and done that. Yet recently, more than ever, I’ve been asked over and over to continuously show up and lean in. . I’ve discovered no matter what the challenge has been, if I have set my mind to it, I have completed it. . Leadership is about stepping into the arena and doing the things you wouldn’t normally do. Being prepared to go where you would ask your clients to go. I would never ask someone to do something if I wasn’t willing to do it myself. . And life doesn’t wait for you to be ready. It doesn’t wait for you to have your ducks in a row. I’m still running our family business, raising kids, spending time with my sister in her brain rehabilitation unit, affected by grief and loss and life does not give a shit. Leadership does not give a shit. . What could you challenge yourself to do today that perhaps freaks you out and really brings up that feeling of resistance within? . What is one thing that you could do today that could help you step into your leadership today? Leadership doesn’t look the same on every person. “You feel different”. . It’s a comment I receive so regularly now. I’m not really surprised, I am grateful though, when it comes from the people who have been at ground level of my development work because they have seen me warts and all. . When it comes from my friends who have been in my life for some time however is when I take a step back and think wow! I’ve always felt comfortable with you I didn’t think I am being any different now and yet it is felt. . Hearing that people are receiving me different has been such an eye opener for me and I’m so grateful when I receive feedback like this. . I used to be afraid of feedback, and really feedback is just other people’s perceptions of you, you can choose whether to take it on or not. . Feedback has allowed me to shift the way I am being in the world and for that I am thankful. . Sometimes the sting of feedback would have me in defensive mode, after all, we are all viewing people through our own mirror lenses right? So I would brush the feedback off as they don’t know me or that’s their own stuff or it doesn’t matter. . Yet I missed a perfect opportunity to open myself to people. People who gave me feedback I found were wanting to know me more in depth rather than just at surface level. And all humans really want is connection right? . Going deep with humans has taught me so much about human connection. Up until a while ago I was a person who only really half connected in the past for fear of getting hurt. Now I’m an open book, if I happen to end up hurt along the way then I can deal with that then. Until then, and after then if it happens, I will be who I am - an open book unafraid of what another human could potentially do to my heart. . One of the best skills you can have as a leader is to be able to admit what you don’t know. . Not knowing doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough, it doesn’t mean you haven’t earned your place where you are now, it simply means there is always more to learn. . Being able to admit that is a stepping stone to owning your power. You give permission for others to admit they may not know something and it’s gives you the power to go out there and find out the answer to what you don’t know! . A moment in time to share gratitude for 2 amazing humans I had the pleasure of hanging out with at the recent retreat I attended. ❤️ When @relace2 and @jkaysuper asked me to bring my feminine energy into their masculine buddy group they probably weren’t aware just how much it meant to me. And I wasn’t aware how many laughs would be had because of it. I am so deeply grateful for the expression they allowed me and the love they were able to show me and the deep trust that I felt for them. To them I put the N on Fun and without me it was just FU. To me they were safe male presences to unfold who I truly am without fear. And unfold I did. I never once questioned motives I just felt seen and heard. If you have read my previous blog posts you will understand how happy that makes me feel to be able to say that. Times have changed! Old stories I’ve had have been slowly rewritten and now you guys are a part of that. Yes I have a big bucket list with so many things I want to achieve before I die on it. I love travelling and doing exciting things and having lots of fun while doing those things. . However I also don’t feel like I need a timeline full of things I’ve done to feel like I have lived a good life either. . I also love taking my time, having the feeling of being bored so I can choose something to do, sitting outside and staring at the grass or watching an insect go about it’s busy little day, to sleep in, to just be. . All the moments in life matter. I love the moments that get me out of my head and into my heart and soul. . I remind myself often that there are many people who would love the opportunity to feel bored, or to sit in nature or go to the beach. . Life is a gift in and of itself.
