Midnight Manor; Episode 1, Part 1

You are playing as William Strife.

You received a mysterious invitation in your mail one day, reading as follows;

You don your old suit, having steam pressed it yourself the night before. It's been many years since you've last seen Xephos, but you're more than prepared to see him again.

The mansion seems to be in the middle of a massive, empty stretch of land. The lawn is immaculately kept, and there are flowers along the pathways, illuminated golden by the setting sun. After climbing a large, sloping hill, the mansion finally peeks over the horizon. You inhale deeply as you come closer to the building, watching it grow as you draw near.

Finally, you're at the entrance. All those years, having not heard a peep from your old friend, and finally you have this chance to see him and change everything. A second chance. You open the big manor doors as they weigh heavy against your pull, the candlelit air inside rushing to greet you. Inside, light chatter and clinks of glassware dots the atmosphere.

Stepping inside, you make your way through the entrance to the foyer, and the quiet commotion nears to a stop as the guests turn to see you. Standing scattered around the common areas are seven other people, one of them quickly ushering herself to you to meet you.

"Welcome! Please wipe your soles on the mat before entering the foyer." she smiles, and looking down, you oblige.

Before you can react to those staring at you, steps echo down what must be a staircase, soon revealing their owner; Xephos Brindley. He spreads his arms outward with a grin, a few steps above the bottom floor.

"Good evening, each and every one of you!" he boasts, "Thank you all for showing up. It's been a wonderful time getting to know you all... although I must say, I am surprised at the arrival of... one of you..." he squints in your direction, "Yet still, no matter. It's welcoming to see you, regardless. Let's gather 'round for our icebreaker, shall we?"
