I was part of a local homestuck community and can tell you with absolute certainty that a group of three or more people talking about homestuck together will cause worldwide harm.

2019: Evison’s Wall ... a geoscience curiosity. In 1964, NZ geophysicist, Frank Evison and his colleagues built a 24 metre concrete wall across the Alpine Fault to see if any strike-slip movement could be recorded physically. The wall remains dead straight and on its original alignment (NW-SE), as the sign says, leading one to conclude that movement along the fault goes in jumps rather than gradually. I suspect that the wall needs to be much deeper than its 1.4 metres to really determine this.

Best system for a high fantasy travelogue story including classic vacation activities such as eating and visiting tourist sites? I've been leaning towards some combination of Microscope and a GMed system, but not sure where to put the seam.

Nah - Microscope is far too “zoomed out” for slice-of-life travelogue gaming. You need something that zooms way, way in. You might try this:

Ryuutama: Natural Fantasy

It’s a localised Japanese tabletop RPG about people going on journeys. The rules use a CRPG-inspired approach to give mechanical heft to mundane details of travel like what kind of boots and cloak you’re wearing and where you stop to eat without drowning players in charts and skill lists. It’s been described - only half-jokingly - as Studio Ghibli does Oregon Trail. Great fun.

why is negative xp a thing though. unfair.

nah it’s just not useful yet sometimes

it’s like when your pokemon learns some really shitty debuff instead of something you might use ever, so it looks like he’s just the same guy but with slightly shittier powers, but he’s still got a level closer to doing the actual evolution thing. but meanwhile he’s getting beat up in all his poke fights to get the xp, which hasn’t piled up enough to make him stronger yet, so short term losses are real. I haven’t played pokemon in twenty years

20. what five companions would you pick, from all of them, if you had to make a new crew? I pick the entire Inquisitor crew, but swap T7-01 for Xalek (I do love Xalek, but you get him so close to the end of the story that he isn’t as much of a character. And his mission in KOTFE doesn’t give him much more) 29. what do you most like about the changes from beta, vanilla, early f2p, 4.0, etc?

So I started playing at the end of 3.x. The companion changes are probably the things I liked most about the 4.0 changes, because holy shit was not having to gear your companions or only use your healer a game changer. Most of the other post-4.0 changes I can’t exactly say I “like”.
