Those IHNMAIMS references, from Caine going "I! AM! (GOD!)" to "Don't need to scream if you ain't got a mouth." were just chef's kiss moments.
Bubble kinda confirming there were two AI that C&A (I KNEW IT WAS REAL!) were developing.
Queenie voice reveal! Scratch was a developer who was considered better than everyone in C&A, if not outright abstract.
The computer in the fake exit was not the Chekhov's Gun I saw coming, that's so good!
Fnally, actually hearing Zooble swear? Oh, the finale is going to be fucking crazy.
Kinger's password, oh my goodness, his password.
Does this mean we have October 15, 1996 as the canonical birthday for Caine?
It's also the date Ragatha was trapped in the Digital Circus, just in 2008. Ragatha, you might've loved Breaking Bad if you had watched it while it was airing and got Jax's reference.
I was pleasantly surprised with Vamola's suit in the anime, the green hair on her's really interesting, and the explosion at the end? That I also enjoyed.
Had this idea floating around my head that the moment Thrawn returned to the galaxy, as an admirer of art and history, he had to know what happened to Luthen's shop.
Granted several years did pass since then.
Didn't expect to enjoy this anime as much as I do now. Maomao might just be one of the best protags.
You really are strong, Chainsaw Man.
Pleased to meet you.
I am the Fire Devil.
You know, the ending of Chainsaw Man really has me getting really mixed feelings.
SPOILERS FOR CHAINSAW MAN PART 2 - CHAPTER 232
To see Power back again after only alluding to her a few times throughout Part 2 (along with the flashbacks to her and Aki) is interesting. It does make sense that in a way, both Denji and Power found each other again.
Nayuta in Public Safety to replace Makima ? I actually love that. No explanation necessary for this.
My best hope for Aki not showing up is that he's still got his family and the Gun Devil never caused its massacre. I did hope for a trio reunion, but for now, this is good.
Asa and Yoru. Firstly, Bucky's not dead. Already a good start. Asa socializing and having fun? Good to great! AsaDen moment and still showing that same awkwardness? Give me more of that!!!
I wonder if Asa sharing her body with Yoru is a secret or not, but I'm betting on the former.
This might be a fitting ending to Part 2, (assuming this isn't the total end of Chainsaw Man in general) but I do have my criticisms as well.
I'm not the only one to point it out (whether here in Tumblr or others), and I'm not gonna be the last, but it does look like Fujimoto wrote himself into a corner, especially with how the story flipped between Asa to both Denji and Asa to just Denji. Though I'll say it's justified to show just how low Denji has sunk and why Pochita believed erasing himself was the best option for him. He is the titular Chainsaw Man, after all. I still would've loved a bit more interaction between Denji and Asa, or share more of the spotlight if more interaction wouldn't work.
Pacing, while one of those criticisms, I feel like is not as bad as other people have made it out to be. My own experience tells me it's from reading it weekly/bi-weekly. Perhaps the point of some parts being rushed I can say is just the ongoing chaos between Denji and Yoru's battle. But rushed, nonetheless.
Overall, I give it a 7/10. It's not the best ending, but it sure as hell isn't the worst or most average. It's the most fitting ending for characters like Denji, Asa, Nayuta, Power, etc., and while Denji is not at the happiest possible outcome, this being happy enough is what's best for him: A not-so normal life that isn't being thrown the worst, manipulative, traumatizing moments.
