Stryker x reader, and you two have a daughter
Some of this will be based off of the short series on Dorian, where this is explored a bit. Go check that out for even more fun with this type of thing, though GW is the focus of that one.
Reader is gender neutral. You were the one pregnant, though that is not mentioned or very important here. It is the night before your daughter's first day of school. Keep in mind this isn't Lottie.
You and your husband have a bit of trouble with that.
Has it been that long already?
Stryker watches from where he sits on the bed as you brush through your hair. It was much later than usual. The little girl had been so excited for school tomorrow she'd been bouncing around all day and would not go down without some convincing.
"She really was hard to put down that time, wasn't she? I bet she gets all that stubbornness from you." You let out a laugh.
"I suppose she did fight rather hard that time. Excitement does that to many of the little ones, I've heard." He sounds lighter than he did all those years ago, you can't help but notice.
You settle into bed next to him after you've finished getting ready for bed. "You think she's ready? ... Do you think we're ready?"
"To let her go for that long. It just feels like... Do you think we've missed anything? She could hardly walk last I remember... What if we don't remember enough of all the days we've had already?" You feel yourself begin to tear up a little. Whether it is from worry or sadness, you aren't sure.
He notices your tears before you do, and you've already been guided into his arms by the time you begin to sob. How could your little girl have grown up this fast? You're just so sure you've missed so many important moments because of how fast everything has felt.
"I'm not... well versed in how to parent. I've talked to many parents in the community, though, and I can tell you that what you're feeling is completely normal. Our little girl is still just that." He laces one of his hands through your hair, doing his best to comfort you.
Several minutes of your crying and his comforting you later, you hear many tiny footsteps and a knock on your bedroom door.
"Mama! I slept! Is it morning yet? I wanna see school!" And... she's up. That didn't last long. You do your best to try to look like you've not been crying.
Stryker looks to you. You give him a nod. "Come in, d/n." She walks in excitedly and jumps up onto your bed, right in between you and Stryker.
"What are you up so late for, Hon? I told you I'd get you up when it was time to get ready. Too excited?" She crawls into your lap.
"I am so, so, so, so excited! Dad said I could get up early if I went to bed earlier! Is it early nowwww?" She rocks, practically bouncing off the walls in anticipation for the next day.
"Dad said what? ... Nevermind. No, Hon. It is not early just yet. I'm so, so glad you're happy, but you've gotta go back to bed."
"Really?! How long do I have to wait?"
"It's 9:30, so... 9 and a half hours." Stryker answers your little one with a fond, yet slightly exasperated smile on his face. D/n flops over with an exaggerated sigh.
"Alright, back to bed with you. C'mon." You pick her up and start to walk back to her room. All the talking and running around has seemingly tired her out. She's already half asleep.
"Goodnight, Baby. Sweet dreams." You kiss her on the forehead after tucking her in. "Stay in bed this time."
"Goodnight... Love you..." She sounds incredibly drowsy, thank goodness.
Stryker meets you on your way back. "Has she finally gone down?"
"Yep. Aren't I amazing?" Your tone is sarcastic, yet he softens anyways.
Stryker kisses the back of your hand. "That was never put into question, My Love." You smile at him.
"You really think we're doing alright?"
"We're doing well, I'd say. Give yourself a bit of a break. You deserve it."
I hope you enjoyed! If any of you amazing people want a part two with anything specific, please do comment! Have a wonderful day!
This feels shorter than I wanted.
