Today, Belizeans celebrate their independence from British colonial rule. This victory came after years of struggle. Joyous celebrations with parades, elaborate costumes, and music take place all over the country every year in honour of a national holiday. It's also the most ideal time of year to visit this stunning nation. Belize is a country on the eastern coast of Central America, near the mouth of the Hondo River.
