Well. The weekend I had been eagerly anticipating came and went quicker than a blink. Why is it when I'm in my cubicle time goes so slow it actually starts going backwards, but when my Brew Crew is near time goes too too fast. Thursday 15 September 2011 I check my vacation time while sitting in my cubicle when I see I have eleven hours to use. ELEVEN whole hours!! I immediately email my manager to see if I can leave early - my Brew Crewsers are coming to town! She sends me an email back that with unscheduled time off comes with an occurrence (an unexcused absence). I email her back and am gone quicker than lightning. My Brew Crew is definitely worth an occurrence! Thursday evening comes and so do they - 17 cars rolling up the driveway. ONE of those cars being mine, Beatrice Blu. We get her unloaded from the trailer and she sets by the garage, greeting everyone coming in. Dinner is provided by the Corner, only the best little dive in Charlottesville Virginia. Friday 16 September 2011 1045 am - we are rolling east on Rt 250 towards Monticello. The itinerary is for brunch at Michie's Tavern before heading southwest to Buena Vista, Virginia. The cool thing about the brew Crew? Just because we have an itinerary doesn't mean we follow it. While at Michie's Tavern, a few of us decide to head up to Carter's Mountain Orchard. A wine tasting and photo op later the group reassembles for the next leg of the trip. 29S to 151 and up up up to the Blue Ridge Parkway we head. Our fearless leader heads back to Waynesboro to meet up with a late arrival, leaving the expedition in charge of Neal, the big papa. We stop at the first overlook we find and a unanimous vote has us heading back towards Waynesboro, breaking my heart a little since I was really looking forward to a little BV in my life. Saturday 17 September 2011 The kiddo and I head to VSDB for our first fall rec soccer game while the Brew Crew heads to Country Connections in Stuarts Draft (Country Connections was a BIG hit, FYI). 3 goals later we meet up with the guys in Verona to begin our adventure north, to the Edinburg Ole Time Festival. The festival is a big hit! We park in front of the old school with a few other cars, completing their Antique Car Show. After enjoying AMAZING BBQ, kettle corn and pork rinds (blech) we wait for the announcement of the car show winners before heading back to Waynesboro. Winners are ... DJ / Al / Neal!! Any ride wouldn't be complete without some ride breaking down. As we are getting on the interstate heading home we get the SOS on the radio. The Grand Marques has an issue with the rear axle bearing. He's parked in the 'authorized vehicles' turn through while we break into groups - some rushing home to get the truck & trailer to tow the Grand Marques home and some of us just heading back. Before we know it it's 2200 on Saturday night. Suddenly it's Sunday morning and time for goodbye hugs and 'see you soons' and they're off! All heading home - Arkansas, Ohio and Pennsylvania for a few, Williamsburg and surrounding areas for most others. We clean up the garage, get the linens in the wash and wonder suddenly where the last four days have gone...
