Bucky and Steve fall in love in the 1940s. that same trope from friends to lovers. as we all know, it ends in nothing.

then in the 1950s, Bucky falls in love with Natasha, who shares his pain. that also ends in nothing.

in 2012, Steve meets Natasha, and step by step, feelings develop between them. it's something so fragile, where they both hide their past relationships with Barnes (especially Natasha, who doesn't want to ruin the trust that has developed between them).

and then Bucky returns.

no. The Winter Soldier.

and then the torment continues until the three of them are together.

Steve and Bucky try to realize that they are both alive.

and Natasha runs away, retreats, because she considers herself superfluous.

she was never superfluous.

There is a song that describes Steve, Natasha, and Bucky's relationship so well it is almost like it was written for them. That song is Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips. Imagining that it is being sung by Steve, the first verse is to Natasha, the second verse is to Bucky, and then the first half of the third verse is to Bucky, and the second half to Natasha.

It is nice to have a song that so wonderfully fits their relationship.
