Hoseoks Friend | MYG
“This is dumb.” You grumble from your seat beside your best friend. “This chair is unusually warm for such a cold gym.”
“Calm down Y/N. They had a practice before this and we’re right in the front, one of the coaches probably sat there before you.” She rolls her eyes, watching the empty court.
She had started seeing a guy recently which wasn’t at all unusual for her, she went on dates all the time. She was basically a dating app professional user. She’d never dragged you along though and of course the first time she does its attending said guys basketball game. Your sports knowledge was very limited, meaning you could tell which hall went to what game but then you were lost.
“Why did I need to come with you again?” You ask, realizing she never gave you a reason. She just told you she payed for your seat and that the game was that night. She gave you no time to prepare or ask questions before she was ushering you out the door with a puppy dog look.
“Hwan...he said he wasn’t opposed to taking me back to his place tonight if things go well during the game and I need someone to take my car home.” She murmurs sheepishly, cheeks a blooming red and shy eyes glued to the glossed floor.
“You’re gross.” You laugh, shoving her slightly. “You made me your valet for the night if your booty call works out?”
“When you say it like that it sounds bad...” She pouts, hiding the mischievous smile. “Plus I’ll owe you one.”
“You’ll owe me two.” You correct her. She shakes her head.
“Why two? This is one favor.”
“No, this is two. The first one was me coming with you. The second one is me taking your car back home.” You explain, snatching her keys off her lap since you already knew she was going to be preoccupied tonight whether it was with Hwan or someone else. You loved her but she got around and she proudly owned the slut title.
She whined and tilted her head back against the plastic seats but poured with a nod. “Fine. Two favors. But I’m not cleaning the bathroom!”
“After the mess you made last time that I had to clean up? I wouldn’t ask you to.” You assured her, shivering at the memory of the spilt cleaning supplies well...everywhere.
People slowly began to fill the empty seats, crowding you and Areum. To your misfortune the seat beside you was claimed by a middle aged man who clearly had new heard of personal space or deodorant. You scowled at the girl beside you and she silently apologized when she realized what had made you so sour. “Three favors.”
The teams made it onto the court and you grew curious. Both the team Hwan was on and the opposing team had reasonably attractive players, making you think maybe tonight wouldn’t be a total waste. But the cheerful oaf next to you quickly reminded you how badly you wanted to shrivel up and die when he raised his arms yet again.
“Which one is Hwan?” You ask over the sound of people shouting around you.
“Mmm” She hums, eyes scanning the men running in every direction around the court. “Oh! Right there, the silver hair!”
He was easy to spot out, being the only one on the court with said hair color and for the fact that he spotted Areum at the same time and sent her a not so subtle lip bite. Yeah...you were home alone tonight.
They kept making goo goo eyes at one another for a good thirty seconds before one of his teammates was shoving him and bringing him out of his muddy thoughts. You laughed, watching the blonde scold his friend, not being quite sure of what he was saying but knowing it was something pertaining to his flirting since he couldn’t look back in her direction without red cheeks.
“Cock block.” Areum pouts, shooting daggers at the blonde who threw his hands up in defense when he noticed her pointed glare. You laughed once again, gaining a smile and what you could have mistaken for a wink from him.
You tried your best to look interested in the game playing out before you but it was no use, the only thing you could find yourself paying any attention to was the blonde running back and forth. You still weren’t entirely sure what was going on but you knew you needed to find him when the game was said and done. If Areum got to have fun tonight why couldn’t you?
The man beside you mumbled something about the bathroom as he got up but your senses at ease once he was gone. But the vacant seat didn’t last long when someone jumped over the back of it, claiming it once more. You fully expected a child with the way they had leaped over but you were met with yet another handsome guy. This university was just spitting them out left and right.
He was intently watching the court with a grin when he finally noticed your eyes on him and turned his head to look at you. “That guy sitting here before wasn’t your boyfriend was he?” He asks over the noise, knowing full well it was not.
You rolled your eyes at his teasing and looked back on the court, intentions set on finding the blonde again. Areums eyes were following Hwan, she was done for, there was no point in trying to start a conversation anymore.
“I’m Hoseok.” He yells, a bit closer this time. “My friends and hookups call me Hobi.”
“Hoseok it is then.” You laugh dryly, giving him the hint that you were not going anywhere with him tonight. You liked confident guys, no cocky ones.
“And what should I call you?” He asks, still as close as he once was, ignoring your attempt at shutting him down. “Because right now I’m thinking sweet ass.”
“You can’t even see my ass.” You mock, referring to the fact that you were sitting down.
“I’d like to.”
That earned him a punch to the arm but he kept laughing and shook his head. “I’m teasing, I already have something lined up for me tonight.”
“Congratulations.” You roll your eyes again.
Before he could come up with another vulgar response the crowd erupted in cheers around you, even Areum was jumping up from her seat. You looked out toward the court and noticed the University’s team was jumping with joy, smacking each other around. You never did understand straight guys and their desire to practically beat the shit out of each other when excited.
“Yeah! That’s my boy! Yoongi!!” Hoseok cheers loudly, cupping his hands around his mouth to make it even louder. He was joined a few seconds later by three others, all holding onto each other and jerking around, shouting Yoongi at the top of their lungs. Whoever that was.
It didn’t take long for Areum to find your hand and pull you outside to wait for Hwan to meet the two of you outside. She was giddy with excitement, bouncing on her heels and looking in every direction so she wouldn’t miss him.
“So did they win?” You question, still confused by the excitement bubbling within the people around you. She nodded, big grin painted on her face.
One by one the team started to pour our, showered and changed into after game clothes. You waited outside the door with Areum, noticing Hoseok and his friends coming up laughing amongst eachother.
Areum squealed and left your side when Hwan finally made his appearance, the blond from earlier behind him in track pants and a black sweatshirt with his bag hung off his shoulder. He looked toward you probably trying to figure out where the excited squeal was coming from. A smile graced his lips and he sent a small wave, looking as if he was going to walk over until a hand on his shoulder pulled him back.
Hoseok.
“Dude you killed that!” He laughs while the others greeted him with similar praises and pats on the back. “I say we celebrate. Pia wanted me to come by tonight but I’m all for bailing on her.”
“You have got to stop messing with that poor girl.” The tallest of the group shakes his head in disapproval.
Hoseok rolled his eyes but turned back to the blonde. “Fine, I won’t bail. I’ll invite her out with us and go home with her after.”
He still didn’t look like he approved but he stayed quiet anyway, exchanging looks with the darker haired one beside him who looked like he felt the same way about their friends decisions.
“I don’t know, I’m pretty beat. I just wanna head back to my room and relax.” The blonde yawns, running his hand through the long wet locks hanging over his eyes.
“Pia has a friend not doing anything tonight, I can send her over to help with your relaxation.” He offers and now you audibly scoff. It caught Hoseoks attention too.
“Still mad at me?” He asks, now they were all looking at you, the cute blonde too.
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” You snark.
“I don’t even know your name and you already know me so well babe.” He winks playfully. It only annoyed you further. Deciding not to start any banter you turned to tell Areum by and to be safe but she already had her tongue down Hwans throat.
“Okay, by Areum see you back home.” You waved even though she didn’t hear you, turning on your heel to make your way to where she parked her car.
Halfway there you heard someone quickly approaching you. You expected it to be Hoseok, here for another round of sexual innuendos.
“You’re fast. You ever think about joining the team?” An unfamiliar voice asks, finally catching up and panting behind you. Definitely not Hoseok.
You stopped to turn around and noticed the blonde had caught up to you and was giving you a tired smile. He was cute, there no doubt. But so was Hoseoks his friend and he was...a dick to say the least. Don’t socks flock together or something like that?
“I’ve never even though about understanding the game.” You respond honestly, crossing your arms over your chest and raising your brow at him.
“I wanted to apologize for Hobi. He can come off a little strong.” He says, playing with the silver hoop dangling from his earlobe, something that wasn’t there during the game...you would have noticed.
“You shouldn’t have to apologize for him.” You remind him.
“And you shouldn’t compare me to him.”
“I wasn’t—“ You begin but cut yourself off because that’s exactly what you were doing. “I’m sorry. I’ve met too many guys whose friends are just different versions of the same asshole.”
“Well then let me prove to you that I’m not another version of Jung Hoseok.” He offers, confidence suddenly blooming as he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his track pants.
“I’m not sleeping with you.” You blurt out quickly.
He laughed and shook his head. “I wasn’t talking about that. I’m starving and I’ve never been a fan of eating in my car so would you be interested in coming to eat with me somewhere?”
You thought it over for a moment. What’s the worse that could happen? He ends up being worse than his friend and you pour your drink on him? Not such a bad way to end your night.
“I’ll even pay and you can drive yourself there if you want to. But the offer to pay, drive you and bring you back here is on the table.”
Yoy squinted questionably at him for moment. “No Hoseok?”
“No Hoseok.” He confirms with amusement. “Just me and you.”
“Fine. But I’m driving myself.” You point out and he nods.
“Fine by me, as long as I get to pay.”
“No arguments there.” You assure him.
“Good. I’m going to go and get my car and I’ll come back and lead the way.” He explains, fishing his keys from his bag. “Oh, what’s your name by the way?”
“Y/N.” You answer, giving him a soft smile. The least you could do was be nice and give him a chance. He seemed to be genuine and have a good head on his shoulders.
“I’m Yoongi. Nice to meet you Y/N.”

Might write a short part two where they go out to eat. I don’t know though.
