I "slept in" today 😂....it's 6:15am. Surgery life is killing me just a tiny bit.
$1935
That's the price it is to take Step 2; a board exam I ABSOLUTELY need to be certified to even be a doctor !
Any advice for first-gen premed students? College is already hard enough, and I'm so confused on what to do about med school. I want to become a doctor and I'll be the first one in my family to graduate college and med school!
As a first gen pre med myself, I would say never give up. Only take classes that you can handle and dont be afraid of finishing later than others. Find a supportive group of students that can push you to your best (I'm sure there are other on the same boat ). Being a first gen and making it through college shows "perseverance " that medical schools look for (I'm on the interview committee) They want to know "if this person comes to med school will they push through the struggles." Therefore your current experiences and struggles will actually shine and will only be proof of how worthy you are for med school. If you want to become a doctor then DO IT! It's a long journey and take it one step at time. Itll all be worth it at the end
Not sure why, but
Today, I started crying in front of a resident after she asked how Psych rotation was going on.
New workout motivation board ❤
I wasn't prepared
Two days on psych, seen about 6 patients total. No one prepared me for the emotional rollercoaster I would be taken on.
