when he was young, soda would always joke about being “ no good at school, ” but truthfully, he loves stories. he just struggles with the technical parts. neither he nor his brothers knew he had dyslexia. but he'd flip through pony's books when he was home alone, mouthing words in order to keep up with the text. now, he reads to wind down at bedtime, or when things are uncharacteristically quiet in the shop. he gravitates toward adventure novels, westerns, and literally anything with animals. even if he doesn’t finish, though tries to make it a point to, he loves immersing himself in different worlds. he never admit it when he was younger cause he didn't want pony to think he was copying him, or darry to think he’s trying to “ be something he’s not. ”
death doesn’t scare soda. what terrifies him is becoming irrelevant — maybe pony moving on, darry resenting him, the gang drifting apart. being invisible to the people he loves feels so much worse than dying. that fear drives his fierce loyalty, but it also makes him cling harder than he should in his relationships once they've built.
for someone who was a greaser and loved to mess around and fight, soda thrives on harmony. when his brothers, darry and pony, would clash, soda would always jump in. either with jokes or with intuitive understanding of what both sides need to hear. sometimes it meant distracting pony with food or slipping an arm around darry when he’s fuming. other times, it’s validating both of them afterward. he was so often drained by it and by all the losses they've had, cause he carried a lot of the emotional weight for both brothers and himself. there's nothing he hated more than them fighting, cause the more they fought, the more he feared he'd lose them. it's definitely easier now since he's built a life for himself, but he still fears being left behind.

slowly, I am straying away from Gil Kane’s The WARLOCK issues. I will be periodically making characteristically-focused points based off of what I’ve read. starting with Fantastic Four #66– written by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Adam is a generically engineered prototype towards the success of a perfect human, made to be a tool. He had intelligence and basic human morality. Minor spoilers.
destroyed his creators, four scientists from a group known as the Enclave. later revealed Bruce Banner was among the contributors that created Adam, but not a father. He unknowingly helped.
Tried to take a mate, Sif, from Thor. This led to a few pages of Adam fighting Thor, so he wouldn’t be lonely. Eventually returns to his cocoon to float in space, continuing to mature for many years.
Now, in the Gil Kane issues, Adam is a lot more mature. Still floating in the gallows of space, untouched, he was allowed to finally gather his bearings. The High Evolutionary, took Adam’s cocoon into his ship. Conversation ensued, and Adam eventually broke free from his cocoon and ventured into Counter-Earth to fight a beast-man. This follows into the future endeavors that would make Adam labeled a ‘champion’ of Counter-Earth.
Loses his best friend, Eddie Roberts, to being violently thrown off a building to his death. Unable to save him. Adam kills Triax, angered to the point to do so. Ellie Roberts, the woman that named him Adam, still lives. Adam attends Eddie’s funeral, but in grief, goes back into his cocoon.
These are mainly the issues that discussed Adam’s morality and ethical dilemmas. This shapes him into who he is today. Before he became a “golden god”. Warlock is a name he also went by before Ellie, given to him by H.E.
I always think how genetically enhanced Adam is and how he can even genetically modify and maintain the properties of organisms, down to their primal traits and deepest pits of origination. just reading how Adam spliced two conjoined genes for mutation ( involving proclaimed evolution ) and turning a bipedal beast back into it’s four legged wolf. Adam can nurture the soul, but he can also serve to function the soul’s external properties; be it its host.
