Tinted plaster cast from a single-use mold (fancy way of describing balsa wood bits hot-glued to plexi). I have no idea why I made this, but felt compelled to give it a try.

digital text and shapes in illustrator
i am extremely intimidated by prompt activities done in class. i chose to use nicely coloured shapes to censor certain words. a simple use of repetition is also seen in the works. i have a fixation on the font ‘consolas’, similar to the font used on early mobile phones; boxy, pixelated forms. working in a beige palette is another habit seen in the works. the colours come off as domestic and natural.

Diode Press demos pulling an intaglio print with plaster. No paper, no press, still plenty of mess.
I want to experiment with this. I’m specifically curious if harder materials might work with water-soluble etching inks, like Akua or Charbonnel Aquarelle. The overnight turnaround for results is dampening my enthusiasm, I admit, but I think I must for a new project I’m working on.
