STUDIO UPDATE 1 (one)
I’ve been working hard despite the silence.
Above is the culmination of the week so far (it’s not done yet, only the initial pencil), but below is less juicy but still very important stuff.
Pepe Silvia.
The walls are so sad, let’s look at something else.
Some of my better character design studies.
Our dubious hero, and a hackneyed attempt at translation from graphite to ink.
There’s some kind of imppeal happening here, but can’t quite put a finger on it.
Shady.

studio update - week 14
This week I put together a call for artists. Here is the PDF:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uvjsnyt-KsIaCw-d_5BwitqbQAPpZHWbbor-4H685Ss/edit?usp=sharing
Currently, I am sending this to specific people I would like to be a part of the event. My priority this week is reaching out to people that will contribute art, music, and poetry. I am also “researching” by reading this book about the Danish lifestyle (?) of hygge. It is a way of living that emphasizes togetherness, slowness, work-life balance. Aesthetically, it involves lots of candles (warm, dim light), wood (and things close to nature) and soft and comforting textiles. I am thinking about how to invite others to risk by either performing/showing work or just showing up to something while creating a comforting and interesting atmosphere and experience.
So far, just inviting others has been a delight. I get to reach out to those I admire and ask them to be a part of this. This is leading towards coffee dates to talk about the night and to simply connect. I am reaching out to people like Jeff Rau and Chris Davidson to talk about hosting art events/poetry readings and to ask them how they see these gatherings as extensions of their art practices.
My next main step is creating an invitation for the guests.
This process feels like my show. It’s quick and exciting and terrifying. It calls for lots of intentional yet quick decisions and an acceptance or embracing of imperfection and uncertainty.
I also started a post (currently in my drafts) about how this whole process and event is becoming an extension of my art practice. I’ll be posting it later in the process!
I hope you are all enjoying the warmth!
Late nights in the studio have produced such oddity
Hey, I got a website…yeah…
Crit tonight. Get pumped.
