He's almost been raised to believe that after a while, especially in his teens and young adulthood. Mystra just doesn't understand that everything he does is because he loves her and magic and since she's the goddess of magic those loves are intertwined in his mind.

It's also why he pushes himself so far. I needs to prove that he's good at magic, amazing, one of the best every because he's comparing himself constantly with the goddess of magic. He'll never be on par with her cause the very nature of that relationship is unbalanced. He's a mortal, yet he keeps trying which causes his fall in the end.

And it's all over because he was told his magical skills were valuable and that was a way he could earn love and respect from someone he was infatuated with.

What you would think domestic life with Gale is like: Being awoken with the smell of breakfast cooking down stairs. Being doted on and worshipped most evenings. Him constantly writing the most beautiful poetry about his love.

What being in the domestic life with Gale is actually like: The above and also arguing over how many books he can bring with him in a trip. He claims ten is far too little and may want to read something else.

Random thought but I do wish the game delved more into the aftermath of when a companion is kidnapped by Orin.

Like when Gale is taken, she describes some of the torture he endures and like it's prerty horrible. Yet once he's free, he thanks you a bit and then that's it. He doesn't seem overly bothered about it anymore. Like there's no way that man will sleep easy after all of that.

I'm going to do a loose headcanon that if Gale is taken by Orin he'll have some serious trauma after it and it's very clear after he's back in the Elfsong and post game.

Is it Sinday? No. Do I care? Also, no. I spotted a piece of information about ancient Greek mythology, in particular the Greek Gods, of which God Gale basically becomes a BG3 version of one when he reached godhood.

With that note, I would like to point to this important quote:

"They have small to very small penises compared to the average of humanity, and they are usually flaccid." Andrew Lear, specialist in Greek art and sexuality.

So this is the main reason why Gale's god ending is his bad ending.

Sometimes I think of that since Tara doesn't speak with you on the roof unless you have animal speaking but then will speak with you in the epilogue means that it's up to Tara's allowance that you understand her.

Since I tend to write Gale in the origin perspective here, Tara would be at camp for most of my writing and I'm just imagining the conversation from people's POV:

Gale: Tara my beard is not fur, nor will I shave it.

Tara: Meow.

Gale: Well, isn't it a good thing that I don't depend on you for advice on my appearance.

Tara: Meow.

Gale: The last time I took your advice in that regard I was ten.

Tara: Meow.

I've been going through the scene where Gale conjures up a part of his tower. I think it's likely from his most recent memory of his office and want to do a breakdown from that as to what his life was like right before the Nautiloid, Part One:

Tara’s Corner

These bowls are clearly for Tara to have a constant supply of food and water if she ever required it. Placing them by the door shows a routine where he likely checked on her bowl as he passed through his office daily and was also a space where Tara can be close to Gale while he works.

Following that, the pillow signifies Tara’s designated spot in his office. That's her corner of his office. Even in his most focused and solitary moments while he studies and tries to figure out what is happening with the orb, he values her presence and most likely muses theories with her as he works.

Wine and the Statue of Mystra

I suspect that Gale began to develop a reliance on wine to manage his pain and stress, rather than just the occasional indulgence. There many goblets and bottles of wine across his office with a goblet on nearly every surface. The broken vase and bottle makes me think that he might have broken it in a moment of anger or frustration, or just shaking hands due to the pain he was constantly enduring.

Speaking of pain, the statue is placed in a very interesting position as it is constantly in Gale's view while he works. Its placement, as if she is always watching, looking down upon him, or in his mind, looking up to her. He mostly likely prayed to this statute at his desk daily, begging for help.

The Piano

The piano, enchanted to play music by itself, reflects Gale’s love for music and his need for comfort through sound. The positioning of the stool, as if recently used, suggests that Gale occasionally plays it himself but I would assume that he allowed the enchantment to play most times to fill the silence within his tower.
