hi! I hope you’re having a good day! what resources/books do you use to study chinese?
hi anon, I'm doing well today!
1) The textbook that my class uses is the integrated Chinese textbook level 2 part 1. It’s super popular because its straightforward, filled with exercises, and has pinyin with translation! There is also a list of vocabulary at the end which I find super helpful. This is one of the more advanced textbooks but their beginner ones are just as good.
2) Another resource I use is Papago. It’s basically google translate but better, here is my post on it!
3) Finally, I watch a lot of Chinese Dramas l o l. These are really helpful because listening to native speakers helps with the tone marks and will significantly improve your pronunciation and understanding :) I watch them on viki.com. if you are not into Chinese dramas, I suggest Chinese reality tv shows or Chinese youtubers!
One thing to remember is that China has many dialects and although the Beijing dialect is the “stencil dialect”, there are many different variations of mandarin alone, so don’t fret if someone in a drama or on youtube suddenly speaks in a hard to understand way. I hope this helped! Have a great day <3
don’t forget that it’s okay to take breaks to focus on yourself
