Лапша́ - inanimate noun, first declension, feminine

Root лапш

Ending а

Plural form: лапши́ (that a stressed и, not a й)

It means noodles

There's a saying "вешать лапшу на уши" which literally translates to "to hang noodles on someone's ears" and means to lie, to deceive

Ok, a PSA for all Yelena Belova stans who are writing fanfics and having Yelena say russian words occasionally. As a russian speaker reading all these wonderful fics and silently crying at the russian parts I thought I would do a little glossary of the words i’ve seen a lot of for people to use if they want to (feel free to ask any questions in the notes btw):

Swear words (the most important category)

Suka/suchka (сука/сучка)- bitch

Dura/durochka (дура/дурочка)- stupid (when referring to a woman)

Durak/durachek (дурак/дурачёк)- stupid man

Sukin sin (сукин сын)- son of a bitch (can’t be used as an off handed comment, needs to refer to someone)

Blyat (блять)- very versatile word, can be used as shit or fuck interchangeably

Ebat’ (ебать)- the most versatile swear word, literally means to fuck, (ie fuck off- otjebis’ (отъебись), fuck it all to hell- ebat’ vsio k chiortu (ебать все к черту), fuck your mother- ebat’ tvoju mat’ (ебать твою мать), etc etc)

Huj (хуй)- literally means dick, but is also very versatile (ie fuck off (for a man)- poshel nahui (пошёл нахуй), for a woman- poshla nahui (пошла нахуй), who the fuck knows- hui znaet (хуй знает), what the fuck- chto za huinya (что за хуйня), a more dismissive fuck of (kinda like “who cares”)- hui s toboi (хуй с тобой) etc etc)

Pizda (пизда)- literally means cunt. can also be used as following: fucking lier (man)- pizdobol (пиздабол)/ (woman)- pizdabolka (пиздаболка), fuck/shit (when someone fucked up/everything has gone to shit)- pizdets (пиздец), fuck off (like go away)- pizdui otsuda (пиздуй отсюда), don’t bullshit me- ne pezdi mne (не пезди мне), to talk shit- pizdet’ (пиздеть), he’s/she’s talking shit- on/ona pezdit (он/она пездит), etc, etc)

There are like, so many more but they’re a) hard to translate, b) i don’t remember rn lol

Anyway, cute words now, ie per names:

Solntse/solnishko (солнце/солнышко)- sun/a cute way to say sun. Can be used like this: my sun- solntse maio (солнце моё), solnishko can be used to refer to someone on its own or interchangeably with solntse

Zaika (зайка)- literally means rabbit but is used like darling

Lyubov maia (любовь моя)- my love

Malish (малыш)- little one (can be kinda used like baby? but mostly for parents/older siblings to call you)

Kotyonok (котёнок)- kitten, but not gross, it’s sweet. Parents call their kids that

Pauchiok (паучок)- more thematic now, this is a cute way to say spider, (eg can refer to a widow like this).

Strelets (стрелец)- literally archer, also means sagittarius

Yastreb (ястреб)- hawk

Yastrebinij glaz (ястребиный глаз)- hawkeye (this sounds ridiculous in russian btw)

Radost’ maia (радость моя)- my happiness (altho i don’t think i’ve ever heard it used at face value, usually it’s sarcastic)

Some other random phrases I can think of:

Ti menia besish (ты меня бесишь)- you are getting on my nerves

Idi v zhopu (иди в жопу)- literally go in the arse, meaning leave me alone/ fuck off but less angry

Otvali (отвали)- leave me alone

Zatknis’ (заткнись)- shut up

Nu amerikantsi, nu tupije (ну американцы, ну тупые)- a quote from some annoying old comedian that basically says “wow, americans are so stupid” a phrase my family says to me on a daily basis. I feel like it is something Yelena would say under her breath at any inconvenience

Dog commands:

Sidet’ (сидеть)- sit

Stoyat’ (стоять)- stay

Mesto (место)- place (like when you send them to their place, idk)

Ko mne (ко мне)- heel

Fas (фас)- for when you want a dog to attack

Golos (голос)- speak

Lezhat’ (лежать)- lie down

Lapu (лапу)- what you want them to give you their paw

Dai piat’ (дай пять)- high five

Dai (дай)- give (ie give the toy back)

Nesi (неси)- bring it (ie bring your toy here)

Molodets (молодец)- well done

Umnichka (умничка)- good girl/boy
