Introduction
Hey everybody! I’m SherBook and I’ve decided to start a studyblr. I’ve already uploaded some stuff but now I’m kinda making it official.
About
SherBook
High school student
Bookworm
Hobbies/interests
I love reading and some of my all time favourite authors/books are Jane Austen, Harry Potter (shoutout to all my ravenclaws), Agatha Christie, Lord of The Rings, Percy Jackson, Shadowhunters, and SO MUCH MORE.
I LOVE MUSIC. I’m a proud member of the skeleton clique (aka I’m obsessed with twenty one pilots) and also like Queen, The Beatles, GnR, Imagine Dragons, FOB, P!ATD, Amy Winehouse, Eminem, Billy Joel and a lot more. I play the guitar and sing a little.
I’m quite good at languages. I can speak german, spanish and english and would love to learn more of them in a near future.
My favourite TV shows are Sherlock (duh), Friends, Grey’s Anatomy, Stranger Things and Gilmore Girls. My favorite movie of all time is Moulin Rouge.
I obviously adore anything that has to do with stationary and makeup.
Travelling is my favourite thing in the world (besides bullet journaling of course)
I’m not sure what I want to major in yet but I know I’ll try and be successful at it.
Why I decided to start a studyblr
I guess all I want right now is to motivate people to do their best and have some fun while doing it.
I’ll try to post daily but I won’t make any promises!
Oh and also some of my inspirations are @studywithinspo, @studyquill, @emmastudies, @revisign, @waystostudy, @tedtalks, @mylifeinabullet. I love y’all.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have an awesome day!
#Yasuke is the name of one of Japan’s finest Samurai... The personal guardian and retainer of Master Oda Nabunaga, Yasuke was an East African (likely land of the current day Ndebele, Matabele and Zulu) brought to Japan during the 1500s by the Catholic Jesuits of Portugal and Italy. He was trained and entrusted with the ancient codes of honor, service and courage of the night Samurai of The Oda Clan. He would be renown for his valiant deeds and fighting skills - most notably for defending his master, Oda Nobunaga during an ambush where he and Nobunaga were at a temple and swarmed by a treacherous general and his many agents. He escaped to defend Nabunaga’s son and would later be captured and returned to the Europeans who had brought him... an epic tale, which lends credibility to the fictional tales of the fictional tales of #ManWithTheIronFists and #AfroSamurai of today... Behold, Yasuke... The Black Samurai🖤 #StudyTHIS #Samurai #Samurais #Japan #Africa #Honor #Dignity #Respect #Courage #Valiant #Legend #Africa #Ndebele #Matabele #Zulu #AmaZulu #IsiZulu #RazaZulu #Blackanese #History #Warrior #BiggSOLO #ZeGee #ProFRESHA #LuvvaJ @luvvaj @aktv247 @the25360 (at Exit 111/Marvin Rd/S) https://www.instagram.com/p/BukhEc2n8Oj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pbna6flw88j6
How I study three languages at a time: Tips
So, hi! recntly I’ve been getting these comments about learning three languages at the same time, asking me how I cope with it and how in the world I manage the time for doing so, so here are my tips.
-Organize a weekly schedule
This is veeeery important and casually the first thing you should do when you start to study more than one language. What I actually did is sort the time out by the time I took learning a topic.
With Mandarin, as I took 4 hours in formal classes, now that I’m in holiday, I take the same exact amount of time in practicing and reviewing what I learned, in this case, two hours on tuesdays and thursdays goes to Chinese. For french I did the same thing, fridays are entirely dedicated to french reviewing.
For Korean, as it is my new target language that I’m studying by myself, I decided to do at least one grammar lesson once a day, from monday to thursday and review everything on saturdays, that way, sorting out the time I needed for each language.
-Don’t try to take all the burden at once
If you’re starting to learn a new language apart from one that you were already studying don’t try to learn all the grammar rules at once, or learn a kilometric vocabulary list in one day, that’s just going to make your brain collapse. Instead, try mixing up grammar and vocabulary, for example, if you learn how to say I want to go in korean, try adding up see and movie, that way you’re not just learning the grammar, but two vocabulary words too!
-Be positive!
I know it can get boring and you can easily get discouraged from having to review over and over again, but trust me, just by changing the way you approach something, it can change everything. Don’t get sad if you made a mistake conjugating a verb of If you didn’t understand something you should’ve be able to, languages are a pretty time-consuming thing and It has to be practiced a lot, so go ahead and try that conjugation again!
-Be consistent
Consistency is the key of learning something new, If you pretend to nail that vocabulary on the first try without studying it at least 3 times, you’re up for some failure. Try to find something that interests you about your new language! That way you’ll be more encouraged on studying it, and by the time you finish reading that vocabulary list for the 5th time, you’ll see it was done in half the time!
-Surround yourself with your target language
I know it sounds difficult, but I’m not telling you to go ahead and try to find a native speaker to talk to every day (That’s a good idea tho) but you can start doing it by little steps, as trying to remember the word for table in that language while you eat, or change up your phone’s language for that one you’re studying once in a while, filling up your instagram feed with news from that country, or starting to watch a new TV show in that languages with the subtitles on, anything helps!
