you know in the mission “our best selves” where they are doing their final robbery? well, i was thinking about that mission (again), but specifically the part where dutch sends john and arthur off TOGETHER, ALONE (i promise this will make sense give it a minute) to get the dynamite while him and all the boys + sadie go to the meeting spot. okay so, WHAT HAVE ARTHUR AND JOHN BEEN PLANNING TOGETHER, WHAT OPPORTUNITY HAVE THEY BEEN LOOKING AND WAITING FOR? an escape for johns family!!

NOW TELL ME WHY THIS WOULDNT WORK: they let dutch and the rest ride on to the meeting spot, while they TURN AROUND, FUCKING RUN LIKE LIGHTENING BACK TO CAMP, they are close enough to do that, AND AS THEY ARE DOING THIS, DUTCH IS GETTING FURTHER AWAY FROM THE CAMP. THEY QUITE LITERALLY HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO PULL UP, all thats left is tilly, abi, jack and susan, GET ABI TO GET THEM THE MONEY WITH HER KEY, AND GO!!!!!

like, the mfs who will stop them are NOT THERE, and wont BE THERE for a good amount of time, dutch obviously will realise after some time john and arthur aint coming, but then what? return back to camp, which would already take some time from the meeting spot, to find they had robbed him and dipped? JUST IN TIME FOR THE PINKERTONS WHO WOULDV ORIGINALLY TAKEN ABI TO DROP IN AND SHOOT THEM UP? or continue with the robbery without the dynamite, making it harder, making them not get their take, either them getting caught anyway or returning back to not only see they had been robbed BUT HAVING PUT MORE DISTANCE BETWEEM THEM AND THE MARSTONS DUE TO TIME.

like, at the point arthur and john are alone together getting the dynamite, the camp is unguarded, the mfs who will stop them from escaping the gang ARE ACTIVELY GETTING FURTHER AWAY FROM THE GANG, and when they’re sent for the dynamite they’re honestly close enough to make it back fast if they make their horses sweat a little. i just think if they were fast as well, they barely need to pack, maybe tie up miss grimshaw, split money between the marstons and tilly, they can be gone in MAX 10 minutes. before the pinkertons who kidnapped abi even show up.
