RANT TIME

Tldr: My best friend is pissed that I'm going on a solo holiday with my bro who has a girlfriend (who knows about the holiday).

I haven't done this in a while but my best friend has honestly been getting on my nerves.

A little background.

I grew up with all male friends, the only girl with four other dudes. I'm damn close to my bros, they see me as either one of the dudes or a sister they're all terrified of so our friendship is fully platonic. Anything romantic would feel incestuous for us.

Recently, one of these guys and I decided to go on a long deserved holiday. We've both been the sole breadwinners for our respective families, holding down more than five jobs at once. I recently got a bonus, surprisingly at the same time he did, so when he suggested we go travelling for a week I jumped at the chance. A holiday with just the two of us goofing around??? HELL YES. Not that the rest of my bros aren't great, but sometimes five is a bit much.

Now my best friend is not a part of this group. We grew up in similar households but while I was roughhousing with my group of assholes, she was dating guys. Not that there's anything bad about it but I recently discovered shes of the opinion that girls and guys cannot have platonic relationships. Which to me, growing up with so many guys, is completely ridiculous. But every girl to her own so... Whatever.

I told my best friend that in August I won't be around because I'll be travelling with my bro and she immediately assumed he's my boyfriend. I immediately corrected her and told her he has a girlfriend who is fully aware of us going on a holiday together (I have instructions on pranks to play from her, no joke). Once I mentioned the girlfriend, my best friend lost her mind, accusing me of helping my bro cheat on his girl.

SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

First of all, why is it any of her business who I travel with??? Secondly, the girl is fine with it, she sees me as one of the dudes not someone stealing her boyfriend so... WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE. ITS LIKE GOING ON A HOLIDAY WITH YOUR BROTHER FOR FUCKS SAKE. NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. HONESTLY. COME ON.
