Jikook as Individuals

I’m one of many whose new to the fandom. It will be rude to say that I’m not entirely aware of BTS given their global presence but rather the amount of interest and support I’m given them now is unforeseen. Recruitment fairy Jimin caught my attention when I first saw a video feed of GCF Tokyo in YT and as they say the rest is history. GCF piqued my interest in Jikook and thats when I stumbled upon your page- which is very commendable since you write unbiased view of their relationship. I like that you treat Jikook and respect them as individuals rather than a ship. The balance between compliment and sarcasms makes your observations more relatable. Similar with a lot of Jikook supporters, seeing JIkook especially Jimin not being able to share their relationship with ARMYs whom they have repeatedly shown genuine care and gratitude leaves a pinch and as much as we wanted to send our support across there’s still this invisible wall that separates their relationship supporter and the reality of them being public figures. It’s just heartbreaking when you think about the constraints of having a relationship in a country where your sexual orientation is considered a minority. They have been trying to shout it out loud but at the same time there’s a huge amount of cautiousness wrapped around these “discreet” intimacy. They are not selfish, they value the members, their fans and their company and they are aware that there will be repercussions if they only think about themselves. Their happiness comes with a hefty price and as a supporter let’s just look forward to the day that they will be able to show their true selves and look back to the times where they used to hide in the closet :) (pun intended)

Part of loving them and supporting them requires us to hold and allow space in our hearts and minds for them to be fully human with eachother first and then with us.

First forgive me, English is not my first language. 

I really appreciate you for writing the piece about "Bighit vs bts ships". Although I do not agree with a couple of analyses you have made in your previous posts about jikook, I like the fact that you are not scared to touch on topics that get most people defensive. Also I get to learn where others perspectives lie.

Now,  your take on Bighit and ships is spot on. I do not know why people have a hard time accepting that Bighit is marketing ships. As you mentioned, saying that does not invalidate nor validate any ship. It is just marketing. Bighit did not start this, the kpop industry did not start it, it is simply a marketing strategy that as been used for ages. People love to consume content centered around the interaction of other people and shipping culture is just one example of that.  There are plenty of people in Kpop fandom who are not really interested in the music itself but are dedicated to Kpop groups mostly because they enjoy the members personalities and  interaction as a group or as pairs (ship) whether romantic or not (I do not see anything wrong with that as long as they are supporting and respecting the group). 

I do not claim to know that jikook are in a relationship (and I will gladly accept the fact that they are not if they say so themselves) however after knowing the group since the release of War of Hormone I had a feeling that these two young boys had special feelings for each other ( which they might or might not have acted on) . My intuition is getting stronger and stronger these days and I came to the same conclusion as you in regard to why Bighit is not backing up in showing us jikook content even after some of the backlashes they received from fans. My conclusion is that most likely Bighit is trying to position itself so that whenever their relations is revealed one day whether voluntary or by some shady move by K-media then Bighit would be applauded by parts of the world that do not frown so much upon the LGBTQ+ community. As for Korea the company might suffer initially when such news come out but given the fact that LGBTQ+  rights are bound to improve in the country, Bighit would later be able to brag about behind ahead of their time on that issue. I still think that Bighit would rather delay the reveal day though lol.

[Unrelated] People seem to not like it when other suggest that jikook might fight. I recognize that lot of shippers are throwing those words out  there unnecessarily anytime there seem to be a "drought" in jikook content but it is inevitable for couples to fight and given both of these boys personalities, I believe that they had their fair share of fights and make ups. Remember! it is young love which in general is full of passion. They will learn and mature. Acknowledging that fights might have happened  should not be viewed as people trying to undermine their bond, it is being realistic.

Lastly please keep your posts coming. You might get some harsh words from people who do not like to hear certain narratives but as long as you are not insulting any of the boys I would like to read more of what you think about not only jikook but all BTS members interactions in general.
