I love the different Primid face designs. This one especially

It's just some bigass eyes but it has so much personality. It looks so judgemental. I love it.

I like that there are so many variations. It's a shame they only show up upon booting up the file rather than them just existing naturally. Probably easier to render them that way though.

Day 24! The weirdos in the Subspace Army are some of my favorite video game enemy designs out there, and Floow is one of my favorites of those! The way they move and sound and attack is really neat, and creepy!

So I don't think anyone's asked this (correct if I'm wrong) but how does Mr Game and Watch feel about the Subspace Army's Mites?

He thinks they're awesome and cool. Things made of his essence that are also shaped like him but they come in different colors? That's badass.

Deeply fascinated by a lot of the enemies in SSE. Like there's the obviously synthetic ones like the Primids (+ variants), mechanoids (Autolance, Buckot, Cymul, etc), "toylike" (Puppit, Gamyga) and those who are synthetic in less easy to define ways (such as Mites, Spaak, or Mizzo).

But there are a lot of others that are just organic beings. Armight's helmet bears the Subspace Army insignia, but everything else looks completely organic. Auroros, Towtow, Shellpod, Feyesh, and Bucculus are just creatures at the end of the day. Tickens are straight up just birds in machines Dr. Eggman-style. Poppant and the Glunder family don't actively pursue you at all, only doing damage if you get too close.

For a location that looks so void-like, Subspace is home to a lot of living creatures and I think that's neat.

Any idea what the deal is with the cut Subspace enemy we can easily get a trophy for, Mizzo? Do you have any headcanons as to why it's in the situation we find it in on the Halberd?

The room where it's found is a hall with multiple Subspace enemies in similar glass tanks: Poppant, Buckot, Nagagog, Scope Primid, Roader, Autolance, Primid, Mizzo, Cymul, and Fire Primid.

Mizzo's trophy calls this a display room, but it could also be a laboratory of some kind. It's the only enemy held in place with Mysterious Mad Scientist Substance, which makes me think that it's not a fully developed being. The lab could've been a place where Subspace enemies were developed before they were ready to be deployed via Shadow Bugs.

I'm sure we all know from Subspace that Mr. Game and Watch is made up of Shadow Bugs.

What HCs do you have about how that affects him? Me personally, I always imagine him having less stamina in daytime, so I always have him spam the breathing taunt after each kill if it is daytime.

It does feed into a theory I've had that Mr. Game & Watch's universe is more similar to the Dark Realm rather than the Light Realm like most other fighters' universes. Specifically based on how well he meshes into pretty much any part of the Dark Realm vs how starkly he contrasts with the environment elsewhere.

Also the similarities between the Shadow Bugs forming primids and Dharkon's captured fighters strengthens this idea.

Much like how Dharkon being at more power than Galeem makes the screen visibly darken while Galeem only affects it marginally (if at all), I can imagine being in the Light Realm is harder on the eyes for him.

I can also imagine Mr. Game & Watch being affected differently from dark magic and light magic than most other fighters outside of battle (though for the sake of Smash this effect is reverted for consistency's sake).

So if Dharkon is going to be the origin of Mr. G&W...what exactly ARE the Shadow Bugs? (I have a headcanon myself, but it's rather...dark.)

I wouldn’t imagine that Dharkon created Mr. Game & Watch, but that they’re both from the Dark Realm.

As for the Shadow Bugs, I have a couple guesses, though neither one is perfect.

1. Least plausible, but still worth mentioning: They could be flesh.

2. A bit more plausible, but not a great theory: They could be his blood. The way they’re drawn from G&W’s body could be similar to getting blood drawn.

3. The most plausible of the options: They could be bits of darkness energy.

The reason I say this is the most plausible is because there’s a lot of supporting evidence.

For one, the Shadow Bugs forming Primids look strikingly similar to the captured fighters in the Dark Realm.

Second thing is: if it’s darkness energy, it’s more likely for there to be lots of it in Mr. Game & Watch’s small body.

Third, based on the way that it’s used to form Primids (and a couple of other enemies) is fairly similar to the way Mr. Game & Watch transforms in battle for his various attacks (most notably his Final Smash), which would most likely use some amount of energy or magic.
