WEEK 3 - PHOTOREAL TEXTURES
1) PHOTO 2) PHOTOSHOP 3) SUBSTANCE ALCHEMIST
Year 2 Core Project 1 Week 3 Photoreal Textures This was super fun, and i feel like i learnt a lot in a small space of time! I encountered quite a few issues, the biggest (as seen in Image 3) was some kind of strange offset problem with the tiling of my image. I quickly requested advice from Alistair and was pleased to know it was a small issue that had a simple solution! Looking back I can say that Image 5 was probably my favourite result, even though it was certainly incomplete, it had a nice aesthetic to it that I felt I left behind. Though I feel content that I continued and didn’t stop there as I found that I wasn’t too keen on the “melted” shadows and shapes i was seeing on the stones, this again was fixed with the help of Alistair who gave me advice on height maps from the original BMP>Material layer and the extra (correct) usage of grime and dirt to hide inconsistencies. At one point I felt like I had looked at it for too long and I couldn’t work out what didn’t “feel right”. 5 minutes away from the computer and I felt much better about what I produced.
