Benedikt Búálfur Stream Sunday, April 7th, at 16:30 UTC!
hey everybody! Tomorrow, at 9:30 am PST/16:30 GMT/17:30 BST, here in the Succateers Room, we will be streaming the Icelandic play known as Benedikt Búálfur!
For the longest time, Benedikt Búálfur was yet another play from Iceland that has a KILLER soundtrack and absolutely no footage anywhere online. That is...until somebody by the name of “icelandicstuff 8″ uploaded it onto YouTube just a couple of weeks ago! Hooray!
Benedikt Búálfur is the story of a little girl named Dídí who accidentally captures an elf, Benedikt, and in setting him free she earns his trust, and they become great friends. They go down into the elf world, where they meet elf royalty, a feral gatekeeper goblin, the tooth fairy, a vegetarian dragon, and ultimately a four-armed dark elf who tries to kill them via toothache.
It’s a wild, wild ride we are going on, villtu ekki koma með mér?
You might recognize a few actors if you know Ávaxtakarfan, namely the actor for Guffi Banani as Josafat AND Sölvar, the actress for Mæja Jarðarber as Dídí, and the actress for Eva Appelsína as the elf queen.
(Extra bonus, Hinrik Ólafsson plays the elf king, and he was the original Immi Ananas from 1998.)
A warning in advance: I did not make subtitles for this one, so we are just gonna be seeing it in its Icelandic glory, just like all those times we streamed Ávaxtakarfan pre-subtitles. So, if you’re not a native Icelandic speaker, be prepared for some confusion. But, IMO, that’s where the fun begins! Hope to see you there!
