The Night We Met - Suction Cups

Lan Wangji wasn’t sure if he was thankful that his boat was completely repaired. He couldn’t stay out here forever, but he didn’t want to go home, and he really wanted to stay with Wei Wuxian. Which meant he should keep traveling. But the idea of another crash had him so nauseous that the first day it was repaired he couldn’t convince himself to step off the sand.

Now that he was in his boat with all of his old belongings- thanks to the merman- and had plenty of supplies to eat and drink on his journey, he was sailing to his next destination. It felt weird to be sailing again, but mostly he was missing Wei Wuxian.

He was so distracted, that he didn’t even notice the ship tilting until he heard the popping of suckers. He frowned and turned his head, expecting something worse like he rammed into land or a creature attacking his boat, but instead, it was Wei Wuxian!

Lan Wangji let out a relieved sigh, watching the merman grasp onto the starboard side with his now many legs, a blanket of shimmering blue drifting behind him as it trailed into the water. “What are you doing? You’ll tip the ship, come aboard or go back in the water.”

“You left without me!” Wei Wuxian flopped into the boat, his legs moving over each other as they got into as comfortable a position as they could on a flat surface. “It’s easier to climb aboard with suckers on my legs.” He nodded matter-of-factly, wiggling one of his appendages in the other’s direction.

“I didn’t know you wanted to go with me…” Lan Wangji took care of the boat so it would stay on course and walked over to his companion to help him get the webbing of his legs on board. “What have you turned into?”

Wei Wuxian smiled mischievously, “A blanket octopus. Isn’t it pretty? Well, it’s better in the water but…still!”

Lan Wangji let out an amused huff and held one of the tentacles at bay as it moved to try to suction to his shoulder and chest. “I’ve never heard of one before.” He swallowed down the words of admission, you’re always pretty.

“They’re very pretty. Very rare to be seen though, they’re very deep in the ocean and even I don’t see them too often.” Wei Wuxian snickered, finally managing to get his suckers on the other.

“Wei Ying-”

Lan Wangji started from getting very firm octopus ‘kisses’, sighing in exasperation when he lifted his arm to see rings starting to appear wherever the tentacles made proper contact with his skin, feeling his ears heat up to burning. “You’ve covered me in bruises…” Not that he terribly minded, but it felt intimate coming from his Wei Ying. “Was that needed?”

Wei Wuxian’s smile turned mischievous again, eyes raised into crescents of mirth. He made a mental note that he wanted to try with his mouth sometime if their courting ever came to light. “Oops.”
