CALLING IT NOW:

Steven’s “swellings” are gonna eventually lead to his wormification.

Some other super stressful event is gonna happen (maybe with the Diamonds) and his growing is gonna start up again, cultivating into his inevitable worming. 

They didn’t explain WHY it was happening or give a real conclusion to the swelling and what it means for Steven, so it seems like they just want to put the idea that Steven’s Pinkness can make him grow when he’s stressed into the minds of the audience so that, when he finally grows so much he becomes the worm, they’ll be able to connect it back to this.

How when they came towards her, she just... froze? The almost adrenaline-fueled reaction? The metaphor of “opening the floodgates”? The projection of her trauma onto the situation (who’s pitiful now)?

Maybe she hasn’t healed as well as she thinks...

y’all, we know why the plant versions of steven don’t look like his normal form now. he’s going to make them when he is pink and so they’ll mirror that form accordingly. which means, steven is probably going to attack the crystal gems.

Okay so hear me out- We clearly have shown that steven can lose himself into his powers now so this is something that came to mind for me What if instead of him corrupting the changes into what he feels he is becoming the fact of the matter is with showing diamond eyes shows he breifly lost all his morals and what makes him human falling into pure diamond energy, the pent up anger and raw power that is pink diamond.

Then soon after accidentally breaks one of MAJOR RULES OF A CRYSTAL GEM- yes, steven was lucky to save jasper and save her from dying but having jasper bow to them and even call him a diamond I believe is the last straw for steven. In the promo’s he shows running away from home. and this is where i bring up shapeshifting. It is shown countless times that steven changes how he looks by how he feels. This episode shows a jock cocky type of personality, letting it get into his head and acting more like jasper. hence his design changing drastically to this school jock buff steven. Now the newest episode name “I am my monster” yes, is a play on the saying I am my mother. but also...literally, if he feels like he is becoming a monster and he feels no longer safe and in fear of harming those he sees as “family” he may just run away to the diamonds...where he can’t possibly hurt them, where they know how to handle pink diamond. but I feel that in the wake of being with the diamonds he slowly will shapeshift, NOT CORRUPT into the worm boy monster. because of this saying alone and the fact he changes depending on how he feels.

so basically in Mr Universe, ALL i could think about was pink diamond. They didnt directly address it, but greg and rose are SO similar, from their upbringing to them running away to be free, etc. The diamonds treated pink the same way gregs parents treated him, just translated to a gem environment. despite how absolutely horrible it is, Steven doesnt realize this, and says that thats what he wants, structure.

how this connects to Fragments, and the promo after it is VERY important. Steven's diamond half is, obviously, very prominent in Fragments. His diamond pupils, to even starting to have a silhouette similar to Pink's, to Jasper calling him "My Diamond". A lot of people have been saying that hes going to go to the diamonds, even before these episodes came out, and this is made VERY obvious in the promo. Hes going to want the live Pink has, hes going to try to take on her role, which he previously very much didnt want at all. I think hes going to realize very soon why Pink left, why Greg left, why its a stupid idea to try to be Pink Diamond, and realistically the series will probably end on a positive note of him returning to earth, and doing something (idk what) that will help him find himself, like the song Mr Universe did for greg.
