Sulfur Studios Pitch
I'm done with school, but I've managed to be more busy since then. While I have several projects in progress and I will talk about them down the line. The main thing I'm concentrating on is Sulfur Studios in Savannah, GA. My girlfriend and two friends are the main people behind the project, to sum it up it's affordable artist studios/gallery/community creative hub. It came from a need, because we live in a two room apartment and we can't afford anything more at the moment, we were trying to both work on our art in this tiny space, but it wasn't working. So we started looking for a dedicated art space and either studios were way over our heads or they were in locales that were far away from everything else. Anyhoo the building we found is in a pretty ideal spot, it's on the ArtMarch route, near Desoto Row, Back in the Day Bakery, Graveface Records, a location that is really on it's way up. So we decided it was worth going after.
I offered to do a logo and this is what I came up with.
We are now in a critical phase of trying to raise enough money so we can pay the security deposit and do some necessary repairs and electrical restructuring. It's quite a bit of money, cus the place is 5000 sq ft and really is supposed to be a retail space, thus it's priced accordingly. Anyhoo, we set up an IndieGoGo and had an open studio, which seemed pretty successful as hundreds of people came through. Now we just need some of that enthusiasm to transfer to fundraising and we will be able to launch in early 2015. Also as an attempt to help get some momentum on the IndieGoGo I'm offering to do ConSketches for anyone that donates any amount. You Donate, then contact me and tell me what character you want me to draw and I will draw the shit out of them :) Here is my contact info http://ugisart.com/About-Ugis Below are some various examples of what a ConSketch from me might look like.
If you have one of those fancy new Facebooks you can follow Sulfur Studios progress there or on that Twitter machine. If we can get this off the ground, then it would open up lots of cool possibilities for projects to come, not just for me but we could eventually set up an artist residency :)
