Witchcraft for everybody: low effort cleansing
I've been struggling to find the right words or main points to make one of these posts. Since I've posted "Witchcraft for everybody: a collection of tips." I've been overwhelmed with positive feedback, so I want to do this right.
I decided to start from the topic that I'm most familiar with as a witch with a fair amount of experience: cleansing. Now, you can cleanse in multiple ways, some more complicated than others, but I'm here to show you that you can do it without having to make everything into a ritual.
Two of the most common cleansing methods require exposing the object you want to cleanse under the sunlight or the moonlight and let it soak up its energy. Although I feel like I have to advise you, since I'm making this post, about a couple of things:
Not only do these luminaries have the power to cleanse, but they charge too, so keep that in mind, you can set an intention when you put them on your windowsill;
Some crystals fade under the sun (ex. amethyst, rose quartz), so be careful if you want to sunbathe your crystals;
If you expose something to the moonlight, according to your belief, it might charge differently based on the current moon phase, so check your correspondences.
Another method that I'm sure green witches are familiar with is cleansing through the power of the earth. Now, there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding around this method. I've seen many people simply burying their crystals in a vase, with only some earth in it. The original thought behind this specific method was to let the crystal soak up the energy coming from the ground's vibrations, but I understand that not everyone has a garden. A city-life-friendly version of this method would be to cleanse the desired object in a vase that also contains a living plant (especially if it's a purifying plant like sage or rosemary). I usually bury it entirely for three days and three nights, but you do as you see fit.
Then there's water. Using the elements to cleanse will guarantee you good results with little effort (as long as it's a base-level cleansing*). In the past, people used running water like streams or rivers. They placed the object between the river's rocks so that it wouldn't float away and asked the body of water or a Divine being to assist. Unless you live close to nature, that can be tough nowadays. Don't be afraid to use tap water; run the object under the water and ask it politely to cleanse it (remember to check if your crystals are water safe). You can also do a similar thing under the shower to cleanse yourself and your aura.
Skipping over smoke and fire cleansing (since they're intuitive and there's plenty of information on them), I want to introduce what might be a controversial method for some. Cleansing through sound is a technique in use since ancient times, but not everyone can afford a Tibetan bell or has the space to hang wind chimes. On YouTube, there are plenty of videos with purifying frequencies that you can use. You can leave the sound as background while you do other things, or you can use it to cleanse yourself directly as well as your space and crystals. The time varies, from five minutes (like meditations) to hours; you can do a quick cleanse before getting out of bed in the morning to start the day off right, no matter your energy level.
I hope I managed to fit in a fair amount of cleansing methods, based on my experience, but most of all, I hope you found it helpful.
Until next time, keep researching and stay safe <3

*base-level as in not cursed objects or heavily charged objects that need heavier cleansing methods/amounts of cleansing or even rituals to undo.
