hi moogle! i hope it's okay to just @ you like this but adam sent in your url, and i zoomed to check out your blog! ;D i'm seeing a lot of gifsets of the dark crystal which piques my interest. i haven't watched it yet but that's only because someone else in my household got there before me! xD also, i've been :eyes: at the thread between faline and kylan and so far i really like what i've read. especially your prose. it's warm like the sun. that's the vibe that i got. then again, maybe that's exactly why you have the word 'sun' in your url? ;D stay awesome, all right? bye! - tessa.

    For Reimu moments of pride tend to come and go. Not from lack of confidence, but more because it often isn’t something she thinks about much unless someone is specifically pointing it out to her or give her a reason to act prideful in the first place.

     As such the things she can get prideful about are typically things involving her keen intuition and her ability to quickly deal with troublesome youkai. She can become rather boastful and even slightly condescending towards opponents she feels are lacking in the skills they often boast about before trying to fight (and then be swiftly defeated by) her. A twirl of her gohei, a smug smile, holding her chest high, sometimes even a wink, she doesn’t ever try to hide her pride the few times it comes to the forefront.

     That said, in general, Reimu doesn’t really act prideful, and even active attempts to stroke her ego can have varying levels of success depending on her mood or if she catches onto what one is doing or what they are trying to get out of it by doing so.

“That depends! Do you think you can actually make this a challenge?” Zack wasn’t exactly cocky about his spot on top of the ‘unofficial squats leaderboard’ within SOLDIER, but was Roche sure he wanted to lose to him like that? “What about a training match instead? Y’know, between SOLDIER.”

“You’re a 3rd Class, aren’t you? Something like that shouldn’t be too hard, right?”

     “ MY. Someone is in a rush. ” He slowly creeps out from the shelter of a yawning cave, his gait slow and limping from the poor strength of an injured leg. He pads up to the gelfling, steady, as to not frighten the small creature. “ What desperation leads you here? No gelfling wanders this path without intent... ” // @sunblights​ - rian

Well, that was quite a loaded question.

Zack looked towards Roche before settling on staring out at the highways stretching like veins out from them. Roche's bike was the eavesdropper on many of their more serious conversations, and apparently this was one more to add to the list.

He gave it a proper amount of thought and rested his head against the cool metal of the bike. "I did. At one point." As he admitted it, his hands involuntarily flexed like they used to around the Buster Sword. "I joined SOLDIER to be a hero and see the world like everyone else. I wanted to see everything the world could offer and then some."

With a small sigh, his hand went to his scarred, broken chest. "But I think nowadays... I just want a safe place to rest. I want a stable place to call home. I could go for a few trips here and there, sure. Escaping though? I don't think I could do that." He turned back to Roche. "Got something on your mind, Rosebud?"

He's trying to be serious. He really, genuinely is. Roche can be so charming when he wanted to be.

But it didn't suit him sometimes.

"Didja read that on the back of a romance novel?" Zack ruffled Roche's hair, hand stilling once he was satisfied with the mess he made. "Or did you get incredibly poetic without me noticing?"

Now, usually Zack would try and play off Roche's statement as a joke. Something to rile him up or to tease him. It was their way - to push and pull and bully with affection. Flights of fancy and simple words were usually light-hearted. They weren't serious.

They weren't like this.

Zack's face flushed brilliant red as he covered his mouth and took a step back. "H-Hang on-- Roche you're--"

Roche certainly didn't look like he was kidding.

"If you're joking," Zack poked Roche's chest with his finger and made an attempt at a growl, "I won't hesitate to fight you, got it?"

It’s a single word and yet there’s no mistaking it’s urgency, even as laughter toppled forth from her throat in a herald that wasn’t entirely serious,  her footsteps still demanded motion. At best it’s a prank gone awry, some fleeting attempt at jovial mischief - or at worst it means she’s in over her head again. Courting trouble in a way that Aerith had always seemed to so effortlessly find herself. There’s no time to explain which, as her fingers ensnare his hand, the insistent tug of dainty digits half dragging her companion with her, urging him to move, before the situation could truly unravel. 

It’s oddly nostalgic, even despite the chaos. The persistent drum of boots across haggard earth, interspersed only by breathless laughter as the genuine thrill of pure adrenaline thundered within juvenile veins. When was the last time she’d done this? Much less the last time she’d dragged him along for the ride? It’s infectiously overdue, that much is apparent, but who could say no to those big ol’ greens when she saw fit to flash them? Her expression far too pleading, even if not entirely innocent.
