Lets talk about the Sunken AU. Can I talk about my Sunken AU? I’ve been dying to talk about the Sunken AU.
Preface - the sea doesn’t give up its dead. When a person dies at sea, that’s they’re final resting place, their soul sinks into it and can’t move to any afterlife. Additionally all the sunken souls merge a bit, like the edges of their souls blur into one another, creating this hive mind of the waterlogged dead.
Okay now onto the actual AU:
- Percy born ~1900 to Sally and Poseidon in Greece (thats right he’s an actual greek demigod)
- WWI happens. Poseidon gets them on a boat to America away from the war.
- Boat gets attacked, sinks, and Percy died. Gets got and his corpse sinks.
- Bc he’s a child of the sea, instead of just becoming another soul in it, Percy and the Sunken merge. They become him, he becomes them. Think of the Sunken like a big crowd of people, before Percy they just kinda were there. No real purpose to get all of them to act as one. Percy gives them purpose. His souls resonated throughout the Sunken and turned a crowd into a march.
- Then they just kinda vibe for a bit. They’re Percy now sure but that still doesn’t give them much to do. After saving Sally and any other people on the ship and getting them to America, they just drift around in the ocean and explore. Percy can now see things that they could never see back when they were singular, and now they are The Sunken; the one who is many, the many who are one. So yeah explore and watch from the water.
- Then the di Angelos happen.
(Sidenote - at first I thought Percy’s backstory was too similar to theirs and was gonna change it but then I thought “omg they can bond over it 🥺🥰” so yeah)
- Idk how the Sunken learn of them, maybe Maria gets flung into the ocean and they carry her to land and she tell Percy to watch over here them Idk. Either way Percy gains a purpose: look out for the di Angelos.
- By the time Percy finds out about the Great Prophecy the siblings are already in the Lotus Hotel, so they begin to plan for Bianca being the hero of olympus.
- Which is ruined when she joins the Hunt, so they have to switch to Nico.
(Second Sidenote: Nico’s 12 and Bianca 14 in this. Also they’re getting out of the Locus Hotel earlier for continuity’s sake.)
- Anyway the Sunken disguise themselves as Percy Jackson (singular) to befriend the di Angelos while they’re in the hotel, eventually get them out when ✨ the time is right ✨ (around the beginning of canon) and Grover takes them to CHB
- Then we just kinda follow canon except with Nico as the main character, Bianca staying alive maybe, and Percy the amalgamation of the ocean’s dead.
