Hey, do you think Charlie originally wrote Mac as the Dayman because he’s always seen Mac as such a protective figure? (Or that in his paint-high state, his mind made this unconscious immediate connection between protection and karate because of that when writing the Dayman song? And then when it came to writing the musical, maybe it dawned - pun intended - on him that the Dayman was kinda Mac-like?)

If you really wanna reach (and I do), you could maybe even claim that Mac and Dennis trading roles suggests the parts of each other that they admire, on some level. Like, idk man, Dennis seeing this grand, protective, fight-against-evil figure and going “I want that” and Mac seeing this dark, cunning, theatrical, gasp-worthy character and going “I want that”.

Short answer: Yes. I think Charlie wrote Mac as Dayman bc he does see him as his big, strong protector who's a master of karate and Friendship for everyone.

Longer answer: Like obviously the Dayman/Boy is Charlie's self insert but he wants to be like Mac. It's, ugh man Mac and Charlie's friendship, especially when they were younger before they met Dee and Den like, I forget about it sometimes. How both of them grew up in not great environments at all but they had each other and just did their own weird little things together and man it's just soft okay.

And Mac and Dennis trading roles? Hell yes I wanna get that deep. Dennis wanted to be the Dayman bc well Dennis always sees himself as the Protagonist. He's the leading man that gets the girl. He's the one everyone's rooting for. And Mac? Mac wants to be badass. He wants to be tough and feared by people. But he doesn't want to be the hero. He wants to be a Threat.

Also I find it ironic that like Dayman is the character that Charlie wrote to do karate like, canonically in the Dayman Cinematic Universe. But then Mac picks Nightman and is like yeah he Also does Karate like Mac sweetie....you could've been Dayman and had it all. But I mean, I guess I also wouldn't pass up the opportunity to wear all black and a shitton of eyeliner so I get it.

•One of the most musically talented and kinder cabins in camp half-blood

•You can’t sing? You’re still invited to Karaoke night. You can’t play an instrument? You’re still welcome to come in and play for fun

•Since so many of the kids get Apollo musical talents they get really excited whenever a new sibling comes along and they’re a healer

•Like this new kid is feeling a little out of place because their siblings can sing and play but they don’t realize just how useful they are and that their new siblings are l i t e r a l l y bursting at the seams with joy

•Someone is always playing or listening to music

•always. You can’t escape it.

•There have been cabin wide wars on who gets to blast what at full volume

•They weren’t pretty.

•They’re big on holidays. No one in camp knows why but they just are.

•and I mean every holiday.

•they love to learn about them and celebrate as many as they can together.

•It’s Rosh Hashanah? Amazing, they’ll raid the kitchens for apples to celebrate. You celebrate Diwali? Everyone’s about to turn up? It’s Ramadan? They’ll fast in solidarity.

•They know that this new world of monsters is scary and although you’ll never go back to your normal life, they want to make this one as inclusive as possible.

•Trips to the mortal world to see broadway productions are a must at least once a summer.

•One summer Chiron tried to veto it because it was too expensive and they rioted

•No one was getting between these kids and broadway—and they just had to show the younger campers the wonders of Phantom of the Opera!

•Family is big to them. They’re usually on the nicer side but if you mess with their siblings it’s full on war.

•They’re also really social campers!

•If random people are in the cabin they just don’t question it anymore, someone’s always got a friend over.

•All In all this cabin has to be my favorite and I am most definitely bias. Apollo cabin for the win!
