it's been a rough year

drew the first version of this on our phone laying in bed, then worked to do tonight's testosterone shot (which included switching with someone who can handle needles before getting front back) and tried sleeping for a while before givin up and goin to redo it on desktop

on one hand, this all happened just shy of two months ago

on the other hand, it kind of started back in december

but also it feels like this fate was written in stone well over a year ago

it sucks when you like. you spend your whole life having this gut feeling that everyone hates you. you think it's just anxiety, then you realize that actually lots of people genuinely DON'T like you, but eventually you work to surround yourself with people who enjoy your presence and that feeling goes back to being anxiety

except when it doesn't

when someone reveals the way they feel about you and suddenly all those gut instincts and nagging feelings weren't just anxiety, they were right. you don't know if it was bad back then, but your body was onto something, and it's really hard to listen to it because how else do you branch out? you can't let fear rule your life because at some point you need to prove it wrong

we spent one year thinkin we were unlocking, breaking out of social anxiety and just reachin out to people and bein SOCIAL and we had so many friends. built little communities out of friend groups and mutual games. it was great

til we realized we were masking. charismatic and artificial. it hurt like hell, and it was terrifyin to unmask, but eventually we did. we slowly unmasked around more and more people, systemhood and autism both, tryna be our genuine selves instead of just workin to make people like us

and guess how many people left. didn't like the us underneath. didn't like that systems are hard to be friends with, that bein mindful of traumatized friends is difficult, that despite bein neurodivergent themselves there is apparently a type of autistic person that they don't like bein around

we're glad we did unmask, because the people who care about us and stuck around enrich our life so much. we have people who mean so much to us and we wouldn't have that if we didn't risk unmasking and letting them get close to us

but a lot of people also left. because the person they liked disappeared, and they didn't like the guy left in his place

it's hard not to feel like it's our fault, cause like... it's not our fault, but it is because of us. we are the common denominator. it's not that we did anythin wrong, we think, it's just. that we're difficult to be friends with, apparently. and when we stop bein the charismatic funniest guy in chat, people tend ta get sick of us

and sometimes our life falls apart because of that. sometimes the one person who was supposed to save us and make our life actually possible to handle, just decides we're too much effort and it all disappears in an instant. entire support system destroyed because we got seriously upset once in a two year friendship

I wish it were our fault. wish so fuckin bad we could do somethin about it. we keep tryna think if we did somethin wrong, if we're actually bein cruel or hurtful or not realizin it, but we just. we can't find it

it'd be easier, if we fucked up. if we could just accept responsibility, determine that we need to change, do better next time. cause you can do somethin about that, right? we've spent years tryna improve our communication, figure out how to be good friends, understand the world around us good enough to navigate it

we're funny and charismatic and thoughtful and clearly are doin somethin right because the people we are close with value us so much and we're so thankful for that

but it's hard feelin helpless when someone just. realizes they don't like you. you're like two years into what you thought was a friendship that'd last decades and they just get tired of you like a video game they don't feel like playing anymore. they just disappear and sometimes they take support and resources with them

we'll be okay, but man

sometimes vent art looks like making a flight rising x kingdom hearts edit and then drawing it all by hand cause fuck it I wanted to. make it. there's something here I can feel it. idk what it is but it's a whole lotta my emotions

highly suggest just. having fun more often, doing whatever tf you want cause this is COOL AS HELL!!!! joy to draw and made me feel lots better. god. these colours so pretty

you can tell we like pairing red/orange/yellow with dark blues aksjhdaksjhd is just such good contrast... love this shit so much...

have posted the Axel fandragon before but will repost with his familiar here so people can see how is references in this image (which, the halo he's wearing was very fun to draw upscaled. also the fiery stuff on the right is our lair header)

just FELT LIKE putting lyrics over this screencap and ended up finding soemthing felt so perfect... song is a pound of flesh by radical face, tbh love the whole album it's on so much. someday will write an always gold songfic about Sora and Roxas being brothers

What if not only Soriku could make the Combined Keyblade? What would the Akusai Gayblade look like?

What kind of fun combos could exist? Sora and Kairi, Roxas and Namine, Roxas and Xion, Riku and Namine, Terra and Aqua, Marluxia and Larxene??? Axel and Demyx 😂

And yeah if it's just a strong platonic bond given fighting form, then the combos grow larger - the Sea Salt family and the Wayfinder and Destiny Trio...so many different relationships...so many fun ways people connect. 😍

IT MIGHT'VE TAKEN THREE MONTHS TO FINALLY GET TO THIS ASK BUT IN OUR DEFENSE WE DEVELOPED A WHOLE-ASS ART STYLE IN ORDER TO DO IT JUSTICE

so three of these got art and serious thought, we might tackle other combos in the future but for now these ones had us the most excited!!

first that captured us was Marluxia and Larxene-

something so enchanting about the shapes, turning a scythe into a spear (you can tell we went more with direct photobashing references than starting from scratch like the soriku gayblade) and the potential symbolism, like... Larxene being used as a tool to hurt people while Marluxia holds the distance to try and remain in control, the idea that she's left powerless while he holds the combination weapon all for himself... like the idea of a combination attack that comes more from mutual determination than necessarily caring for each other

THEN THE AKUSAI GAYBLADE OF COURSE

this one was so fun to design omg, focused more on Axel's original chakrams to match Saïx's axe and man oh man... this shit gorgeous... if anyone wants to draw these designs btw go fucking crazy we're so happy with these, we might design more in the future but for now we got these three ANWYAYS-

imagine this one is so giant and hulking that they're constantly using it differently since Saïx naturally uses it like the soul-destroying dual-sided axe that it is, even if that means enacting insane fucking leverage on the handle that's so far off center - Axel meanwhile grabs it from the outer rings that better match how he's used to using his chakrams, and this thing would be fucking terrifying flying end over end towards whoever he's keen on fucking up

THEN DUAL FEATURE FOR AXEL CAUSE WE GOT THE SEA SALT COMBINATION BLADE-

this one is so fucking grabd but god we just love it so much... the complete mash of shapes as everything desperately connects to each other... insane protective layered hand guard while those chains hold the body together... the intimidating spike waiting to crack skulls, oh my GOD it's so fun and awesome and over-designed love it so much

was extremely fun also to focus on Roxas as Oathkeeper and Xion as Oblivion, then Axel might not have had the most focus but you know what? it's cause HE SUPPORTS HIS KIDS HE LOVES THEM SO MUCH HE'S JUST GONNA PROTECT THEM AND LET THEM FIGHT THEIR FIGHTS!!!! no I don't know how exactly they use this but they take turns and it's cool as hell

rah we ABSOLUTELY gotta explore more combination weapons in the future, like a Roxas and Xion sibling blade where it's probably two kingdom keys fused together with a bunch of extensions growing out of them... destiny trio combination with kh3-era keyblades could be awesome, and wayfinder!!! god we gotta keep playing the games so we reach bbs and properly get to know them all!!! should write an organization fic someday where low grade combination blades are a staple... oh this has been so much fun askjdhakjshdkj

even if it took three months to answer, so glad this idea got sparked!!!!!

used their kh3 renders as a base but making them FUN was such a good time askjdhakjshd look at them... so fun and accessorized... they're so trans and I love them so much
