man idk what’s popular and what isn’t any more but i would love to see more cool and innovative movies about pirates, that would be nice. cutthroat island 2 maybe

a: a movie you think is underrated

the beach boys/brian wilson biopic love and mercy! the performances are really great, it looks beautiful, and the sound design was amazing not just in terms of the music but the auditory hallucination scenes. i know it’s not exactly underrated like people recognise it was good but i never seem to see it up there when people are talking about good music biopics? idk man it rocks though i wanna rewatch

m: a sequel you like better than the original

perhaps controversial but t2 trainspotting. i love the original but there’s something about t2 that makes me so happy it’s just like. it makes me feel so safe and happy! i know it was almost entirely nostalgia but that’s what i really loved about it, it really revelled in the fact that it was a sequel to trainspotting while also being its own movie. it was bittersweet without being depressing and to me it didn’t ever seem to say “i wish they were still young” which is what a lot of 20-years-later sequels tend to do imo? it was more like “remember when they were young?” which to me is a better experience because it puts the filmmakers and the audience on the same page? idk man i just love t2 trainspotting

e: a silent movie you love

i have barely seen any silent movies but i did watch a couple during undergrad and of those i think my fav pure silent film was the cabinet of dr caligari. vampyr half counts because it was largely silent with only occasional bits of spoken dialogue and i do remember liking it but it creeped me out so bad lol

s: a movie you’d like to see remade and which director you’d pick

some mild sacrilege but i would love to see a kubrick film remade as if the kubrick film had never been extant in the first place, so what i mean is like a re-adaptation of one of the books he adapted WITHOUT taking into account the kubrick adaptation? nobody is surprised to hear me suggest full metal jacket here but i truly think there’s a lot more in the book that could have been more adeptly translated to film by literally any other director, and this is from a person going to london in a few days to see the kubrick exhibit at the design museum like. i love full metal jacket but it... frustrates me! idk enough about directors to suggest someone else but just. someone who understands the book better than kubrick did lol

ur bimbo brain is valid BECAUSE to be quite honest, the difference is never explained in comics and its super vague. mr knight emerges as a new personality in the 2014 mk run, 2016 mk run just sort of further establishes him within the canon. but when u take a look at the entriety of mk history, mr knight is a very new development and to be honest, its HIGHLY POSSIBLE that this identity was created only to give a reason why marc wears the now iconic white suit. i really think its just that. nothing more than a comicsTM gimmick at first which later evolved into something more substantial but never defined (because of its gimmicky beginings)

tho they do explain within canon why marc is running around as a completely new person as opposed to old school moon knight stuff... cuz the police ABSOLUTELY wants moon knight off the streets cuz idk if yall know but he litcherally kills people... 

BUT YAH coming back to my main point i would say that mr knight was created to refresh mk’s brand after some creative stagnation, give a reason for a brand new look that fit the new era of edgy but realistic netflix-esque street level superheroes. and it worked !!!!! mr knight is a realistic detective who wears a simple white suit and a mask, he very well could exist in real life, he almost begs to be plucked out of a comic and injected into a daredevil season. mr knight was created to spice up the mk brand (IN MY OPINION) which in a way makes him a writing device

but since this is mostly a writing device its hard to define who mr knight is!!!! and its even harder to differentiate him from the moon knight identity!!!!!  like i dont think any writer actually does, i think they just keep writing it bc mr knight is cool and so is moon knight and to them they are interchangeable. its possible that mr knight was created out of marcs need to be like moon knight without actually being moon knight. WHICH IS ... A VERY CONFUSING CONCEPT and i swear to god i fully believe no comic writer has ever like actually sat down and thought this thru. its highly possible that to them u can just put an equation sign between mr knight and moon knight. or that mr knight is just moon knight but in a white suit as opposed to cape+hood suit. or maybe mr knight is marcs way of distancing himself from certain events. its confusing !!! im a moon knight scholar and i CANT give u an answer bc every writer has a different take and MOST of these takes clash w/ one another

personally i do view them as different identities, mr knight is more focused on detective work and seems more grounded, moon knight is a bit more esoteric. moon knight also functions as a... collective identity, marc+jake+steve+mr knight (?) = moon knight AND LIKE I RLY COULD GO ON but this is just my general feel and wishful thinking honestly

in reality i think the situation is just. vague bc mr knight was born out of a new way to write a moon knight story, not an actual in-canon reason. its weird and confusing and there are no straight answers, which is what mk brand is made out of. so i dont mind the vagueness and i understand why theres such huge overlap between mk and mr knight identities, especially when u consider them within the context of writing the moon knight title 

tl;dr -- mr knight exists only because they wanted to put moon knight in a cool suit and ther had to be a reason for that suit. later writers fleshed him out a little bit more but since his foundation is very vague and undefined in-canon, there is no clear characterization of mr knight yet
