Inktober Day 3's prompt is "Roasted", so of course I'm going to relate that to one of my million WIP fics in which Enjolras needs a fake date to his sister's wedding but he did NOT anticipate that the cute barista from his favourite cafe might look like THAT under his uniform, something he discovers the morning after the Bucks night. Anyway, R's prone to sunburn (get it? Roasting? I think I pulled a muscle with that stretch) so he needs E's frequent assistance in the reapplication of sunscreen. There's a lot of skin he can't reach in those tiny shorts.
I wasn't sure whether to post about this or not... But a couple of months ago I got diagnosed with skin cancer. I offhandedly mentioned a mole to my doctor during an unrelated appointment, we got it tested and it was a basal cell carcinoma, the most common (and treatable) form of skin cancer. I'm only in my 20's but a lifetime of being an ocean-child has done some damage! I am meticulous with sunscreen these days but it wasn't enough. Don't worry though! This is the type that doesn't usually spread so I'm going to be ok. I got it taken out yesterday. So please... All of my merfolk out there and all of my followers and your little ones... Wear sunscreen, reapply regularly. Slip (on a shirt), slop (on sunscreen), slap (on a hat), seek (shade) and slide (on some sunnies)! #sunsmart #slipslopslap #sunscreen #skincancerawareness #wearsunscreen #besunsmart (at Perth, Western Australia)

UVA rays are sneaky—they don’t tan you, they age you. UVB rays are worse—they leave you with burns, spots, and irreversible pigmentation.
👨⚕️ Dermatologist Dr. Harish Prasad breaks it down: 🌤️ Cloudy day? UV rays still hit you. 🏠 Indoors? UVA comes through windows. 🧴 Skipping sunscreen? That’s a daily risk you don’t see—until it’s too late.
This isn’t hype. This is skin science.

The Start of the Extreme UV Radiation Season in Antigua and Barbuda: March to September
By Dale C. S. Destin – Published 02 March 2025 | The sun, our ultimate source of energy, provides warmth and light essential for life. However, it also emits ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which, while beneficial in small amounts, poses serious health risks with excessive exposure. In Antigua and Barbuda, we are now entering the Extreme UV Radiation Season—March to September—the period when the UV…
