why do so many people think Bucky got the temu serum? he literally got the next best serum after Erskine's original and it was activated using radiation from the Tesseract, a literal Infinity Stone (s. Shuri & Zola; The Wakanda Files).
Alexei calling it "fancy" is probably pretty accurate compared to other super soldiers out there now, now Steve is who the fuck knows where. it's the closest to what Steve had (synthesised from Schmidt, who took the prototype of Erskine's og formula too, and since Bucky didn't turn red and skull-like it's safe to assume it's been heavily perfected since then)
you know who did get the temu serum? Bruce Banner, Alexei Shostakov, the discount Winter Soldiers, John Walker, Karli and the other Flag-Smashers (Isaiah Bradley too, possibly). with the exception of Bruce, they don't even appear to use any radiation to activate it either smh
Bucky got like... pricey competitor copycat serum, not temu serum
How good is super soldier hearing?
Is there a catalogue of times during the war Steve said to the Howlies, “what the hell is that noise?”
They think he's going a bit doo lally but it’s actually that he can hear sounds not normally heard by humans.
So that guy in Paris using a dog whistle that is surprised and a little panicked when Captain America comes running instead.
Or the flutter overhead one dark night in the woods and Gabe realises that Steve can hear the echolocation system noise bats make normally undetectable to humans.
At some point he has to learn how to tune things out because it would have the potential to drive you mad, surely? Being able to hear everything.
Modern day Steve with noise cancelling headphones is a head canon for me. Tony makes special ones just for him and leaves them everywhere so Steve can just grab a pair as needed.
I do sometimes think of the double edged sword that would be having your senses enhanced, especially when beforehand they didn't even work properly.
So from deaf in one ear and colour blind to hearing a pin drop like it's a gunshot and seeing everything in vivid tones must have been a real mind trip for him.
I also think about this - how does he ground himself in that period between getting the serum and being reunited with Bucky? Those USO girls were great and a couple became friends but he suffered a lot because everything was just too much until he had Bucky to focus on. That's a bittersweet one too...
after watching "What If" for the second time around, i'm whole-hardedly convinced that there isn't a universe where natasha romanoff isn't madly in love with a country-sponsored super soldier who carries a shield.
Captain John Walker, Corporal Lewis Ford & Sergeant Bucky Barnes
Playing SWTOR for the First Time
Got to the whole ‘Republic secret super-soldier project’ in and Oh I could ramble on about the implications of THAT! But as soon as the General told me about a project so secret it had no oversight, just a pile of money and a desired end? I was thinking “welp, no way that’s gonna go wrong.” You don’t need the Force or a Jedi Master’s Wisdom to know that is a BAD IDEA!
Refugees being used as test subjects was not the first thing I thought of for Ways To Go Wrong but unsurprising.
The recruiter saying they were all volunteers? That they were willing?!? I need a dialogue option to cry bs or at least disparage his definition of ‘consent’. Damnit swtor that’s not how it works and you know it!
Those refugees did not consent to this. Maybe recruiter dude was straight up lying to PC’s face. Maybe the folks were ‘willing’ in the same way recruited teens for the US military are ‘willing’ (i.e. no fucking clue what they’re signing up for cause recruiters are lying liars who lie). Maybe a combination of the above? But don’t tell me every single refugee was giving full and informed consent to be guinea pigs for an experimental super soldier project!!!
Just found this on Reddit regarding our three super soldiers:
Alexei is the optimistic goofball, John Walker is the insecure one with the inferiority complex which presents itself as a superiority complex, making him want to be the leader and make the choices, and Bucky is the serious, "too old for this shit" guy who will put the other 2 in their place.
This was written before Thunderbolts* came out so they're right and not right at the same time in that John…. never really fought to be the leader. I just had to share this because "the insecure one with the inferiority complex which presents itself as a superiority complex" hit the nail right on the head, poor boy.
I love John and will defend him to the death. I am not kidding.
