I’ve been watching the WCOH the last couple weeks, so now I actually understand more about what people are talking about in Check, Please! and Blueliners. At the same time, I haven’t actually read any CP! fics on AO3 recently, so you guys get the usual Teen Wolf Sterek set (+1 Derek/Parrish, which I thoroughly enjoyed). Welcome to fall, and have a great weekend everyone!

Derek's driving along a stretch of highway when an unusual sight makes him slow down, the engine of his old pickup rattling in protest.
There's a kid standing by the side of the road.
It's the middle of nowhere, the goddamn apocalypse, and this kid is standing by the side of the road with his thumb pointed skyward. Like he's playing at being a hitchhiker.
Or the one where Stiles thinks he's all alone in a post-apocalyptic world, until he meets Derek.

"There's no way he's a quarian. Least of all the quarian prince we're supposed to be escorting." Erica whines, and Derek wonders why he named her his staff lieutenant, she has no tact whatsoever.
"I'm sorry, but you must be a level 4 friend to unlock my tragic back-story." The prince jokes. "And call me Stiles, even I can't pronounce my actual name."
Or the one where Derek and his crew are assigned to be the glorified babysitter of an alien prince, and everything is not as it seems.

Stiles wakes up and suddenly the war is over, he's no longer a penniless mage, and living in an exquisite manor married to the man he's been in love with for far too long.
“It’ll be fine,” Stiles says gallantly. “I am certain I will just fall in love with my husband all over again, and I will find plenty of joy doing that.” He winks at Derek for good measure.

"You’re all headed out to Oklahoma in a week.”
Derek snaps his head up, stares at him in horror, “No, boss.”
“Yes,” Finstock insists in a steely voice. “The NSSL have been on at us for a year about some decent exposure, and I think you’re just the team to do it.”
“I haven’t done weather since college,” Derek protests.
Boyd snorts again, presumably because he’s thinking back to the time when Derek and the weather last collided and he…. well, did the guy into the weather for a brief, wonderful, terribly foolish time. But, Boyd needs to shut up before Derek punches him on the nose.

Derek looks up to meet Stiles’ eyes, expecting to see a challenging smirk, some sort of derisive mocking expression, but Stiles just blinks at him, quirks his lips a little in a small smile, and Derek smiles back, just a little, and maybe this collaboration isn’t going to be so bad, after all.
In which Stiles and Derek are rival musicians who, somehow, through no fault of their own, are forced to work together.
Starting Over by heartsdesire456 | 29.5K | T | Derek/Parrish
For a long time, Jordan had dreamed of this day. For most of his life, he had hoped he’d find himself in the place he was sitting, even if he’d never known exactly where that might be. As he looked across the desk in front of him at the man he’d always wondered about, he couldn’t help the nerves fluttering around in his belly. He was having trouble listening he was too busy staring at the man he’d spent the last six months searching for.
The only thing he could think was that he was really glad he had taken the risk to transfer to a town he had never heard of, regardless of the terrible record of death in the line of duty it boasted, because not only did he find his father, but he also found that he had a brother.
All that was left was to work up the nerve to tell them that.
Paradigm Shift by bioloyg | 38.1K | M | Derek/Stiles
Sunset began as drugs hit the shelves, laced with false promises and viruses that were supposed to help their host, not harm them. That was laughable. Symbiosis with bacteria, sure, but Derek knew these viruses weren’t something that should ever be viewed as “helpful tools” or at the “beck and call” of humans.
He’d been right. He hoped for once that he was wrong, that his disbelief was misplaced and all would be fine, but that was the optimistic take on a piss poor situation.

Stiles likes his job, he does. It's just that his boss is an asshole. Stiles has been working for Hale and Associates for a while now, and he's learned to take Mr Hale's treatment of him with a grain of salt. They're coexisting, more or less. Stiles puts thought of his boss out of his head when he heads to a BDSM club called The Menagerie for the first time. It's a nice night, everything is going well, but everything changes when he sees his boss there.

The only thing Stiles wanted was a little freedom. He wanted to be able to walk where he wanted in the forest, wanted to be able to do what he wanted when he wanted and most of all he wanted to be an adult, especially because he was one. The last thing he wanted was to feel trapped by the Argent's rules about curfew. He understood that there were werewolves and getting too close to the were-border was dangerous, but hell if he was going to let that stop him from having a little fun.
Needless to say, fun was overrated and all Stiles wanted was to go home to his friends and father now.
