When you think of superhero merchandise, you normally think about toys, comic books, t-shirts, cereals and more. Every now and then, restaurants try and jump into the superhero world by crafting a burger that, for no obvious reason, they’ll name after a character. For example, McDonald’s had their Batman Diner Double Beef burger with “Squeezy Cheesy Fries“.
The burger itself looks pretty good, although I’m not sure I want “squeezy” fries and I’m not sure what the marketing group was thinking with that title. But besides the name and the character logo, there is no real reason why the burger should be a “Batman burger”.
Over in Malaysia, however, there are DC Comics Superhero Cafes and their menu items make sense for the characters they’re named after! Because they are licensed DC Comics Cafes, eating and drinking their superhero products means you are eating or drinking the legitimate product. Forget the McDonald’s ‘knock-off’, the official DC Comics Superhero Cafes have the “Batburger”, or also known as the Dark Knight Mini Waygu Beef Burger:
If you’re unaware, blackened burger buns aren’t new in certain Asian markets. Burger King has offered them, for example. But notice the Batman logo on the top bun? And recognize that it’s the same logo as the Dark Knight Trilogy? That’s what really earns it the Dark Knight title.
At this time, I have reached out asking for a menu from the Cafe in order to try and give people a full idea of what this place serves, and what we in the Americas are missing out on for now. Until I hear back, here are some of their other pictures. Some are properly named and some, I just kind of have no idea what they’re called…
