I would suggest you look into this interview in full. This isn't even the best part of the video. 50 years later and his words are just as relevant today. America is only willing to "change" and grow towards becoming a more united place as long as it doesn't cost them anything. The only reason so many people care about all these equality movements is because they generate so much money and business booming publicity. But no one's going to put that money towards revamping the education system or improving the ghettos or fixing the lead water in Flint/DC/multiple low income areas in Pennsylvania and Louisiana/basically any community in America mostly populated by minorities. That stuff costs money and time that no one capable of helping is willing to give. He also talks about the war in Vietnam which can so so easily be substituted with what we're dealing with in the Middle East.
