We not are suppose sell drugs. Example of falling victim to the devil's civilization.
50 Cent
"Ghetto Qu'ran"
Nas
"Get Down"
Early 50 Cent records truly showcased how fucking fierce he was when there was no plan b and nothing was guaranteed yet. You can hear how hungry he was and what he poured into it.
It's quite shocking how underrated and relatively unknown this song is considering how strong of a track and how interesting and influential the background anc content of the song was to his entire career.
It's pretty crazy how much his life could have gone in a completely different direction and how close it was to never happening.
I thought it was interesting that he brought up the Nas record as he was right on in the way that both tracks share in the unique way the offered unuque insight into the world behind the music in NYC and Queens specifically.
As well both record show these two at the top of their game over around the same point in time over amazing beats which showcased how influential the soulful samples were to the vibe and quality of the highest quality of hip-hop music that was coming out in the 2000's which was also synonymous with the keystone Jay, Kanye, Rick Ross, Dipset records of that era - which for my money is a sound that embodies the Golden Era of Hip-Hop as much as the 90's if not surpassed it.
Who has the best Armed & Dangerous song: Juice Wrld or Pop Smoke? I would of included King Von’s version too, but that song is like 1:20 long. Nah.
I’m not gonna lie, when Quavo & Takeoff dropped their Unc & Phew song, I did not listen to that shit. I was not interested in hearing what I believed was a petty song made without Offset and the potential album rollout “fake” beefing with each other. But then, their COLORS performance went viral, and of course it was good. So I’ve listened to the song for the first time earlier today.
Supreme Team on Showtime is a great documentary. Nas is 2-for-2 with directing and telling the story of pivotal cultural moments in New York City’s history. From the streets to local politics to Hip-Hop. One of the things I wasn’t aware about is the song Hey DJ by World Famous Supreme Team inspired Preme & Prince to put together their own crew and name their click Supreme Team.
