My “Scream 1996″ Final Girl Theory/Question

Who was supposed to be the original final girl?

I mean I know the final girl is Sidney, but I don’t think she was supposed to be in the long run.

I know Stu and Billy were planning on killing everyone, they openly admit that, but as we’ve seen in some horror movies not every final girl survives, she just needs to be the one to survive the longest. So who was it supposed to be?

The reason I believe it wasn’t supposed to be Sidney is because they nearly killed her at her house, like they were fully ready to kill her, it’s only because they wanted to toy with her for a few seconds longer that she managed to get away. And if Sidney had pushed Billy away at the last second when he was “comforting” her, I truly believe that he would have killed.

My point is that the only reason Sidney became to the final girl in her movie is because she got away, and that’s something that Bill and Stu hadn’t planned for. Sidney threw so many wrenches in their plans that they had to change it e.i. the big party Stu threw, I don’t think that that was in their original so called script.

And I know there’s a possibility that they weren’t going to have a final girl, but all the movies they studied, and quoted, and got their plans from most of them had final girls.

So if Sidney wasn’t meant to be their final girl, who was?
