Humanity's Angels (ask-the-freckled-angel)
(Mun note: Surprise attack thread for ask-the-freckled-angel who has the most adorable Marco like OMG)
Fingers lightly tensed on the gas triggers of a 3D Gear while a slightly cool breeze ruffled up platinum blonde strands. A group of bystanders waited, three of them holding ropes that were rigged up to these mechanisms that would fire on command. Hanji Zoe crossed her arms then she gave a wry grin. "Okay! Start!" she called out through the silent air.
The mechanisms kicked into gear and flying thick projectiles came flying at Angelique who stood her ground before launching out the harpoons for the elevation to bring herself into the air, pulling out her blades. There was a fast swish of movements before she landed on the ground, blades outstretched at her sides. Time seemed to almost stop for a moment before the wooden projectiles fell to the ground, slicked clean through several times.
"Oooh, nice job Angel, not bad." Hanji spoke with the biggest grin she had as Angelique stood up and sheathed her blades back up. In her opinion it wasn't the most sufficient way to use their titan blades, but it was good for sharpening skills.
"Thanks." she spoke lightly as Hanji called the next set to get ready for Armin before walking over to the platinum blonde and pulled her aside.
"Hey Angelique, think you could do me a favor? I kind of need it." she spoke looking at evergreen eyes with brown ones.
"Um...sure Miss Hanji, what is it?" she asked curiously before the scientist and squad leader placed a slip of paper and an envelope into her hand.
"I need you to run into town and get those things on the list, I was supposed to send it out, but then Mike caught me and said he couldn't do field practice...so pretty please do it for me?"
"I...I uh..." Angelique stuttered but then looked at the pleading look behind the eyes. "Fine." she replied and smiled a little bit. "You can count on me."
"Great! Just be back before the dinner preparations." Hanji turned away and went over to the group. "Get ready for this round Armin!" her voice carried as the platinum blonde walked off and across the courtyard to make the way to the town.
As she entered the town Angelique took her time to look around at the crowded street, of children running freely, wives chatting with merchants, the whole nine yards. It was almost like nothing had happened months ago. It made her wonder just how fast regular people could change from being in states of panic to a state of peace, but it was most likely that the people still carried just as many scars as the ones who pledged their hearts for humanity.
"Young woman that pretty really shouldn't be joined with such a reckless group like the Scouting Legion..." Angelique's ears perked up slightly as she heard a woman talking to a friend while she looked at the stand and glanced at the list, trying to pretend not to hear.
"I know, someone like her should really have just stayed home and got prepared to meet a man." spoke her friend that made the platinum blonde clench her jaw tightly and as calmly as possible put the produce down and walk away, her stomach in knots.
How could people judge her based on the appearance? Sure, she admitted, she was often teased and complimented by boys in the Legion that started back in the trainee days. This was her life and her choice, was there something wrong with the one she made? Besides, like hell her parents would have let her meet a guy of any type if she just "stayed home" when the Titans broke through the walls. Now her path was set out for her, straight ahead, the bumps in the road that were times like the trainee corps, then the titans breaking through the second time.
Her pace started to come to a slow stop from her brisk walk as she thought about the Battle of Trost, just fresh from training, about to graduate before they had come back through thanks to the colossal bastard. The trainee had lost plenty of fresh faces that day, Angelique barely knew most of the ones that passed, but only one stood out.
Marco Bodt, the sweetest kind of guy she had glanced at across the way while he sat and communed with Jean. In the end he was an angel in the truest sense of the word. Angelique? She was no angel, that was just her name...she didn't deserve something as pure as that. She wasn't even aware of how long she stood, staring at almost nothing, lost in thought.
