Nah cuz i saw this on a tiktok comment section and now have the need to make this an ope discussion.

So, in avatar 2 people are telling how jake looked so aged and how na'vi actually live far longer than humans so they should've looked like still in their 20s, specially considering how even though jake's "soul" is 43, his concious is around 37 (bc of cryo and shit), but his avatar was between 18 and 22 on the first movie, meaning it is now between 31 and 35 in the second one so he should not look so aged.

The thing is, that, do y'all think that since jake is an avatar, he ages faster than na'vis because of his dna and lives less? and if so, would neteyam and lo'ak age equally or one would seem to age physically faster than the other considering the amount of dna they got from neytiri and jake??? Like lo'ak at one point would seem far older than neteyam bc his genes and how he resembles more of jake tham neytiri or maybe otherwise since dna yk

Played the FFVII Remake demo today and I am underwhelmed by it. Most of that I recognize as having to do with nostalgia, and can be fixed with a few days of replaying the original game I’m sure. Going to give the demo another few run throughs, see if I can manage to do better with the combat system, and how different the other modes are. I chose Classic for the first one and dodging/blocking felt absolutely useless, maybe it’ll be better in normal mode.

Not being able to switch characters unless I was in battle was annoying. Especially right after being told only Barret would be able to attack the fucking turrets, but I couldn’t actually do that until Cloud got in range to be shot first. Also, not being able to climb ladders if in battle mode was a bitch after I ran past several enemies thinking escaping while the bomb was on countdown was my priority. Hah, silly me.

Barret and Cloud were absolutely extra special and it was hard not to laugh my ass off at it. Actually hearing their lines made it feel a little cringey to me, but a language change would probably fix that. Jessie is going to make me cry big fat bawling tears eventually, but I want to see her interact with Tifa so bad. The scene in the elevator with Barret and Cloud, the second time, was a nice moment that laid out a whole lot without using dialogue and I loved it.

My biggest Meh for it is going under the tag, because it has to do with a change that’s been made to the storyline and thus actually counts as spoilers.

The bomb you plant to blow up the reactor doesn’t actually do anything. After all that planning and work you did the reactor would’ve stayed standing if Shinra himself didn’t order for the reactor to be destroyed. There are two ways that change can go in the story and only one of them doesn’t cheapen AVALANCHE as a whole.

Theory 1: The bomb was meant not to go off in order to show that AVALANCHE is a group of passionate do-gooders who --while they believe completely that eco-terrorisim is the only way to save the world no matter what-- do not actually have any experience and/or desire to do harm/damage. The bomb failed because they were a bit incompetent and didn’t want to hurt nearby civilians. Which would fit in with the way that the only deaths of Shinra soldiers are because of Cloud and Barret. Jessie, Biggs, and (maybe) Wedge are not seen using lethal force to take out the two guards at the train station.

Theory 2: AVALANCHE are the good guys and thus cannot be shown to do anything that might make them seem morally gray. Sure they can call themselves what they want and use violence, but we don’t want to actually have them commit these terrorist acts so we’ll just paint Shinra to be the bigger bad with this dick move. Who cares if it robs the members of some depth and potential conflict? Most of them won’t even be alive past the tutorial anyway and we’re not robbing the world of much of anything.

I don’t know, it’s a minor change that may seem bigger than it actually is in the long run only because of how short the demo is. I just had an immediate knee-jerk reaction to scream when it happened because it feels like an attempt to oversimplify the story into a good vs bad side. I think only the release of the full game will put this to rest for me. One more month.
