STS (for a story of your choice) could you ever see your WIP being adapted into another media form? And if so, have you ever thought about aesthetics/casting/anything like that? (basically tell me about if you've had the Adaptation Dream™
Happy Storyteller Saturday!
Fun fact, but when I initially came up with the concept behind One Siren’s Soul, I thought of it in a comic/graphic novel format! The character designs are all so unique and distinct in my mind, and the action and expressions are very visual for me! Alas, I knew I didn’t have the motivation nor time to draw comic pages, so I’m having fun with writing it, instead~ c:
But that said, there still are specific epic scenes that I can so easily see in a visual depiction!
Hello, nice to meet you!! I haven't written in a while unless you count my dissertation, but I've been working on outlining/planning multiple WIPs simultaneously bc I'm a masochist
Hello friend!!! It’s great to meet you too!!!
I do count the dissertation because that must have been a lot of hard work and taken many hours! I can’t even imagine! Good job on getting through that!!!
Ok in this household we love and respect juggling an impractical amount of stories lol. But all that planning is no easy task so excellent work on getting all that down!!! It will definitely come in handy once you start writing your stories to make sure you don’t confuse any of them!!!
Tell me about what you’ve worked on today!
STS, what do you like the most about writing a seires?
I think it’s probably the amount of time I get to spend with the characters?
Because series can be challenging in a lot of ways, but the good part is I get to work and explore with these characters for quite the long time :D
STS, what are the best and worst pieces of writing advice you've ever gotten?
The best piece of writing advice I’ve received was actually just the tiniest thing:
Don’t use orbs to describe eyes.
The worst writing advice I’ve received is to write for the audience. Can’t remember who gave me that advice now.
STS, I love the concept of your WIP and am also a big HP fan, where did the idea come from?
Thank you so much! And thanks for asking, I’ve been waiting for someone to ask because I personally love how they came about, and I’m sure it’s hilarious only to me.
So I’m assuming that you’re talking specifically about one of my WIPs, but I actually have two Harry Potter fanfictions: Morsmordre and Post-Script.
I guess I’ll just talk about both!
MORSMORDRE
So this all started when I was trying to entice @decantae into writing with me. I PM’d them on the website where we met, and pretended to be a complete stranger even though we’ve been friends for years at that point.
If anyone has been paying attention to all of my projects at all, it’s no secret that literally every single one is written with @decantae. There’s a lot of reasons for that, but one tiny reason is because I literally don’t have WIP ideas ever. So because I didn’t really have any plot ideas to coax them into writing with me, I just included a massive list of prompts that I found all over the internet to see if there was anything they liked.
In response, they sent me a few that had caught their attention. This was the one we settled on.
Person A and B attend Hogwarts. Person A is a Hufflepuff and B is a Slytherin. One day, A is seen having trouble with their studies and magic and B offers to help. Over time, A improves and they become an inseparable duo. Unfortunately, Slytherin isn’t seen in a good light and there are some rumors about A and B so they have to meet in secret.
Somehow, this very simple, wholesome prompt spawned this massive, angsty AU where Harry Potter died as a baby, and the First Wizarding War never ended with several different plots spanning several years, including a huge post-Hogwarts story. The main ship was supposed to be Casimir and Callisto since the prompt was about Hufflepuff and Slytherin… But once we started contemplating bringing in Clara and Caerwyn, two characters of ours who never had the chance to be written before, Clara and Caerwyn decided to steal the show.
You know, I don’t think we’ve ever actually talked about Callisto helping Casimir with magic…
POST-SCRIPT
So Post-Script takes place in an AU very similar to Morsmordre, just because this started when we were discussing Blake and Alistair in the Morsmordre AU.
@decantae always had a liking for letter-writing, where all of the interaction and everything was done solely through letters. They actually made their own story prompt for a letter-writing story, though I think the original prompt was for a fantasy setting.
So they were the ones to say “Hey, what if we did letter-writing for them.”
And I was like “heck yes”.
And that spawned an entirely new fanfiction, separate from Morsmordre.
Storyteller Saturday! Send me questions about my writing!
STS, aside from your current WIP however long it may be, what's the longest thing you've written?
Happy Storyteller Saturday!! Thank you for the ask~
At first I was… so confused on what to answer with. For some reason, the fact that I wrote over 415k completely slipped my mind? This got long, but you can find a snippet under the cut!
