-Ivan actually admires Berwald awkwardness, it’s cute to him. Berwald admires how Ivan can make a bad situation seem good just by the way he speaks about it. A bit manipulative, but admirable.

-”Would you please, for the love of god, speak up?” Is one of Ivan’s common phrases, so Berwalds mumbling gets on his nerves to say the least. Ivan’s stubbornness tends to get on Berwald’s nerves though.

-They both use common pet names like “Dear” and “Sweetie”, but Ivan uses them most.

-Going ice skating is romantic to them.

-They like to go shopping in their free time.

-Their relationship is slow and rough, but they get though it.

-Berwald likes to fix Ivan’s scarf, more in a OCD way that he’d like to admit, and Ivan likes to make puns to see if it’ll get Berwald to crack a smile.

-A war story or doctor/nurse AU would fit them.

-Their “I can just stay here with you forever” moment is while watching the snow fall in the evening.

GM To Showcase SURUS Autonomous Fuel-Cell Truck Concept!

The hydrogen fuel cell electric truck platform developed by General Motors can be adopted by a family of commercial vehicles used for cargo delivery and commercial freight, the automaker said on Friday.

The platform, nicknamed SURUS for Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure, uses two electric drive units and GM’s Generation 2 hydrogen fuel cell system that is capable of more than 400 miles of range.

SURUS will make its public debut at the fall meeting of the Association of the United States Army on Oct. 9. The Army is currently testing a hydrogen-powered Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck known as the ZH2, and is in discussions with GM to evaluate SURUS in the future.

“SURUS redefines fuel cell electric technology for both highway and off-road environments,” said Charlie Freese, GM’s global head of fuel cell development. “General Motors is committed to bringing new high-performance, zero-emission systems to solve complex challenges for a variety of customers.”

GM announced SURUS on Tuesday as part of its plans to introduce 20 all-electric passenger vehicles by 2023. Engineers created the SURUS platform by combining the chassis of two of its heavy-duty pickup trucks. It is driven by two electric motors and features four-wheel steering.

The automaker revealed on Friday that SURUS is powered by its Generation 2 hydrogen fuel cell system, called Hydrotec, which will be produced at the company’s Brownstown, Mich. facility as part of the partnership between GM and Honda to develop advanced fuel cell systems.

The SURUS platform is a flexible fuel cell electric platform with autonomous capabilities.

Some of the benefits of Hydrotec include quiet and odor-free operation, high instantaneous torque and quick refueling. Like the ZH2, it is also capable of providing an exportable power source and generating water.

SURUS is designed to assist in “some of the toughest transportation challenges” such as natural disasters and global conflicts, according to GM. It will also have autonomous capabilities that could allow multiple SURUS vehicles to operate in a digitally-tethered platoon, or convoy.

Military testing has already shown that the ZH2 has a detection distance that is reduced by 90 percent compared to conventional vehicles, meaning the hydrogen-powered pickup can get ten times closer to its target. Much of that is due to the electric powertrain, which produces less noise than a diesel engine.

The Exportable Power Takeoff (EPTO) feature demonstrates how high-voltage DC from the fuel cell stack could be converted to both high- and low-voltage AC to power tools or equipment.

The ZH2 has also proved more fuel efficient than current military vehicles since the Army began testing in April. By comparison, the Hydrotec system in SURUS will have double the range—400 miles compared to 200 miles from the ZH2.

The fire cracked in the fireplace, sending its light and warmth over the man who was reading in the couch, wrapped up in a blanket. He turned page in the book and, seeing that he had reached the end of the chapter, put it aside and looked out through the window. Outside it seemed it was still snowing and windy. Probably. The darkness surrounding the house made it hard to see more than five centimeters outside, but it sounded like it was still snowing.

Berwald leaned back in the couch, put his glasses on top of the book and closed his eyes, hoping to finally fall asleep. He had had trouble sleeping the last days, and in the end he had tried to tire himself out with some reading. He wasn’t sure it would help though, since nothing else had.

He actually dozed off slightly but was awakened right away as he felt something heavy on his chest. When he opened his eyes to find the source of the pressure on him he found Ivan’s violet eyes staring right back into his. Berwald blinked confused for a second and then smiled a tired smile.

“Hi, darling. Did I wake you up?” Berwald asked and played with Ivan’s hair.

“No. But the cold empty space in the bed where you’re supposed to be most certainly did.”

“Couldn’t sleep”, Berwald mumbled, completely ignoring the “I” that should be in the beginning of the sentence. He was tired and sleepy and didn’t have time to deal with what English teachers might think of his speech.

“I know”, Ivan answered. He knew about Berwald’s sleep problems, he had noticed it days ago when Berwald looked sleepier and sleepier and drank more and more coffee. Even with Berwald’s coffee habits, there was a lot of coffee disappearing in a rapid pace.

Ivan placed his fingertip on Berwald’s bottom lip and stroke it gently. Berwald smiled up at Ivan and adjusted his shoulders to a better position before he wrapped his arms around Ivan’s waist. Ivan gave him a gentle, sleepy kiss before he cuddled down and closed his eyes. Berwald closed his eyes too, stroking Ivan’s back.

Berwald was the first to fall asleep.
