Noble Consort Jing does not flinch from necessity, but she does occasionally prefer to act alone. She dismisses her maids, who depart with graceful bows at her murmured “I am just tired. I will rest for a little while.”

This tincture is potent but its potency is short-lived, and for such a thing she cannot chance an insufficient dose. She has never yet needed it, but better to waste her efforts preparing unnecessarily than to be in need and have nothing. Xiao Xuan held a sword to her only son’s heart.
