Okay that fridge problem? I feel that in so many levels. I have a loaf of bread in my fridge I bought when I moved back into my apartment for the semester. It was in march. I ate 2 slices out of it. And I just. Keep. Forgetting. To. Throw it. Away. There is a burned lightbulb on my counter. It's been there for a month. I keep meaning to throw it away but I DON'T. I might be a little adhd? Honestly it would explain so much.
Sounds like some sort of possible executive dysfunction issue cause yep! Same hat! My life got way easier after I a) got diagnosed and we realized I have rather severe ADHD on the extreme end of hyper, and then b) finding Susan Pinksy’s book “Organizing Solutions For People With ADHD 2nd Edition” which I have talked about a lot on my blog.
It was the first “how to organize your home” book that made any sense to me whatsoever, and helped me realize I was kneecapping myself by trying to conform to a neurotypical way of thinking with regards to both form and function of my house. Like honestly I can’t rec it high enough, and here’s my original post on it which has since grown arms, legs and several new heads. I know the book is available for digital download in a lot of libraries too so there’s that!
Like I feel like I talk about this book so often haha but I cannot tell you how much it helped improve my life. I’m no longer as visually exhausted or overwhelmed by my physical surroundings anymore, and that is honestly just so profoundly life altering when it comes to my mental health. And who’d have thought it would be as “simple” as removing the kitchen cabinet doors.
