sometimes I feel a little weird about RPF on my main writing blog/potentially jeopardizing the genuinely lovely connection between people, but then I see people breaking the #1 rule of fan spaces and sharing all of that outside of designated fan spaces (where the people in question can easily see it) and realize me and my fuckass blog really aren't that bad

okay i love the thought of a mating bite working regardless of where the bite is placed on the body((in my STEM brain i’m going to pretend it’s because there is some specific compound in the teeth of a person that is specifically induced to be produced during sex and when that compound mixes with the saliva of that person and the blood of the prospective mate it activates the bond(do not question my pseudo science i don’t have the brain power to actually come up with how that works but i may come back to this idea bc i love wacky human biology)))

so all that said! i’d like to imagine where different hrpf pairings would have their partner bite them:))

willmack: mack’s bite on will would sit on the meat of his shoulder, right on his trapezius. it’s high enough to be seen if he’s shirtless or changing, but not in an overtly possessive spot bc mack already knows will is his he doesn’t necessarily need the bite to show that. wills bite on mack, however, is in the most obvious spot he can possibly make it. it is high on his neck directly above his scent gland right under the hinge of his jaw. it is blatant and obvious and impossible to miss. will knows his mate is sought after and wanted and he needs it to be incredibly clear that he is Taken.

bedmint: connor’s bite on fraser would be on his upper bicep. it’s easy to kiss over when they stand next to each other and it has the added benefit fraser also being able to kiss it to send an extra warm pulse of love down the bond when they miss each other. fraser’s bite on connor would be on his trapezius as well for similar reasons to mack but also because it’s an immediate deterrent from people touching his mate all casually because everyone knows it’s rude to touch a mating bite. subtle but possessive, which is very fraser.((the reason i don’t bring this up for mack’s is bc mack was Not thinking about that bonus when he bit will but that was fraser’s entire intention behind the placement)

celleno: aiden’s bite on ryan is on his thigh and it scarred so badly and ryan fucking loves it. it’s red and shiny and it kind of always looks irritated even though it’s not and ryan couldn’t be happier about it. it’s a sign of permanence and love and it also means he rubs it subconsciously all the time so he can feel aiden on the other end of their bond. their mating was messy and aiden bit ryan first without really talking about it and ryan burst into tears and aiden panicked but ryan said they were good tears, really good tears but he was just surprised and so the bite wasnt super clean. ryan’s bite on aiden however is right over his heart on his upper pectoral. its a clean bite that healed beautifully and there’s a gorgeous scar right over aiden’s heart that he loves to rub gently when he’s trying soothe the ache of long distance.

perrempe: gabe’s bite on matt is over his hip in the meat of his waist and gabe loves to settle a very possessive hand there when they’re stood next to each other. matt’s bite is on the nape of gabe’s neck so he can press a big warm palm over it to soothe gabe’s fiery attitude. you might think it would be the other way around, but matt’s pretty chill when they’re not playing hockey and gabe is staunchly Not Chill About Anything when he’s not on the ice.

((kind of just for me but)) suzufield: nicks bite on cole would be right over the scent gland in the crease of cole’s neck (the traditional spot) because nick suzuki is a sap and wanted everything to be perfect. cole’s bite, in contrast, would be high on his chest almost to his shoulder, right under where the C would sit on his jersey because he wants nick to remember that there is more to him that just who he is on the ice. he’s allowed and encouraged to be a person, and cole’s bite is a constant reminder of that.
